I've had PMR for over three years now and I'm down to 3 mg prednisolone a day after a great many flare-ups. Although I'm not too bad at this level and am scheduled to reduced around now, over the last two months I've been suffering from wrist pains which feel like sprained wrists. It started with the right wrist only and I thought it was because I was using my left arm differently to compensate for a rotator cuff problem, but now it is affecting the left wrist and is worse than the right. I still have PMR in the shoulders but the rest of my body seems to be free of it. Has any other member had trouble in the wrist area?

WRIST PAIN
Wrist pain that sounds similar to that is a sure sign for me I am hatching a flare. Together with night sweats at about 4am.
Yes, I experienced similar nearly two years ago when I got down to 4.5mg.
Advice at the time from PMRpro is almost the same as she has replied to you.
I upped my pred dose to 7mg, and it worked a treat. Stayed on seven for a couple of weeks, then reduced gradually, every two weeks or so back down to 4.5 mg. the whole process took about four to five months, so clearly I took it slowly!!
Good luck

I was down to 3 last June......pain in the wrist had to up to 7 as PMRpro said it was a flare starting.....have decreased v v v slowly this time and today started the drop from 5 to 4 and a half. Good luck
I had bad wrist pain before I went on Pred. I’m down to 2 mg but having had a flair for the last few weeks my rheum has put me on 10 mg a day for one week. I have a lot of pain in my feet now I think it can vary
