I tried the muscle relaxer that my GP prescribed again and it is helping the stiff neck and pain when looking down. It’s a 5 mg pill of cyclobenzsprine. Maybe a higher dose would work even better

I just looked up this med. It says very clearly to follow your doctor's instructions very carefully. Please do not change your dosage on your own or any advice other than your doctor's. An overdose means you should call Poison Control. It can be fatal. Also older adults (most of us) may be more sensitive to the effects of this medication. Please be careful. Keep in touch with us.

Not really - PMR doesn't lead to spasmed muscles, that tends to be the MPS side of cytokine involvement.

Please don't mess about with dose - muscle relaxants work on all muscles so even ones that aren't tight will be affected and muscles are involved in all sorts of things - like keeping your eyelids open or regulating bladder control. More might possibly improve things a bit quicker or it might not, but it also risks increasing the adverse effects and sometimes the difference between therapeutic dose and overdose can be very narrow.

Myofascial pain syndrome, that is probably what is causing the neck problems. It isn't directly PMR but is often found alongside it. We do talk about it a lot.
