Demystifying Diabetes’ in relation to Polymyalgia Rheumatica & Giant Cell Arteritis (25.1.16) by Karen Craggs Lead Specialist Dietician-Diabetes.
In 2016 this lady came to give a talk to a support group, subsequently she wrote an article on the subject for the members.
Most of us lost weight and 3 people with Type 2 were free of it within about 1 year to 18 months. 1 with Type 1 lost weight and so did the rest of the members who followed the diet. It might just help.
If anyone wants a copy of the article, just PM me with your email address.
Two tips:
1) Downsize your plate, from 'Dinner' to 'Ham' size. Your stomach tells you 'you are full', your eyes tell you 'there is food left on the plate' - the old saying 'your eyes are bigger than your belly' is true.
2) Keep a cucumber in the fridge, wrapped in foil, when you think you are hungry or just want something, cut 1" and eat it.

Hi jinasc, I would be very intereted in seeing this article. You have my email address in your inbox. Thank you so much for sharing this information. x
I remember you sent me that, it was very interesting as she works with Prof Roy Taylor at Newcastle Uni who is one of the leading lights in solving diabetes through diet. The best explanation of how diet affects blood sugar and causes diabetes is Dr Michael Moseley's book the Blood Sugar Diet in which Prof Taylor has contributed to and writes a foreword for, or The Diabetes weight-loss cookbook by Katie and Giancarlo Caldesi, with a foreword by Dr David Unwin who has championed the cause of putting diabetes into remission through low-carb diet in his practice in Liverpool. We know that somehow Pred affects the way our bodies process carbs and store fat but not exactly how or why. So low-carbs is definitely the lifestyle you need while on Pred.
We contacted the Uni to see if they would send a speaker.
Karen did give a explanation and most of it went over my head. When I asked if she would write an article for our Newsletter, I asked her to write it for the lowest common denominator, which was me, on the grounds that if I could understand it, then everyone else would. Karen laughed out loud.
I'm a firm believer in keeping it simple and writing in Palin English. Alegedly Einstein said you don't really understand something unless you can explain it to your Grandmother
I never expected this many requests, so If you have not received an email and are wondering why, just bear with me, you will get one as soon as possible.
I am a full-time carer (Cousin 90 who has dementia) and she has to come first. I do so hope you all understand.
I thought about what you said and as I am not so good at present and having a wee sip of my b*****, suddenly remembered being told ages ago that you can do a link via a 'Cloud'.
I then posted it in a new post ' Demys......Diabetes 2 and nuigini has confirmed it works.

Click on the link and you will go to the Summer 2016 Newsletter, which contains the full article on the above.
Page 4 is the place to find the whole shebang.
Now I know what to do, I can put links up to stuff that we did over those years when necessary.
Thank you for making my brain work. Back to the B****y. 😉😉 (any excuse will do)
