I am tapering pred from 60 mg and now down to 3 mg using DSNS method. Now I have swelling on my knee and severe pain . Has anyone experienced this and should this be treated as a flare ? If yes what did you do ? Please narrate your experiences and opinions . TIA

Yes exactly that for a while. I think it was Osteoarthritis that had been hitherto suppressed by the Pred. My Rheumatologist was going to draw the fluid off and possibly offer a steroid injection into the site- then the music stopped ( if you see what I mean).
Standard for a flare would be an extra 5 mgs, for about 10 days, then straight back to 3 mgs and see if that does the trick. In the absence of Rheumatologist appointments.

Is it just one knee? Have you done anything to injure it?
Yes just one knee and I do not remember any injury except that I drove my gearless car for 4 hours straight . So may be a sitting position in drivers seat for that time ......
