Definitely not PMR but A Covid-19 Tribute

I'm sure some of you will remember a viral video of the Tricolori flying with Nessun Dorma as the soundtrack which it was claimed the flight had been specially done for Covid-19. It wasn't really though the image "We will win" was powerful. You can see it here, not sure if this was the origin of the rainbow meme:

diregiovani.it/2020/03/16/3...

For the last week the Tricolori (Italy's answer to the Red Arrows) have been flying over Italy, starting near Udine in the north and moving south, flying over Bari and the rest of the south yesterday.

This is in my local online paper today - it is so lovely I thought I should share as all of us have been so much affected by Covid-10

stol.it/video/media/2020052...

I am a great fan of biathlon in winter sport where athletes ski cross country carrying a rifle on their backs and at intervals must shoot at 5 targets. It is often said that the last shot of the five each time is the hardest to hit because the mind is already thinking of the next part of the race.

The end of this beginning is in sight - if we continue to remember what has been and maintain our discipline there may even be an end. We haven't won yet - but it will come.

Loved both of them and a small tear for past memories of Pavarotti.

Stephen (Nephew with Covid and bang on age required) donated his Plasma (antibodies) last week and will be called back till its over.

The hospital rang him, before it was announced on the media, and he was there in two hours.

He is chuffed to bits he can help and I am chuffed to bits with him.

Lovely...Pavarotti was one one of hubby’s favourites ...and he “went on his way” with Nessun Dorma at his funeral.

So it always “gets me” in whatever the occasion.

Love the flyby. 🌈

The other video remained static while the music played which I liked anyway.

Fabulous. I have watched the Red Arrows series on UK tv and loved that but the shots in the second video really demonstrate how skilful the pilots are in their spacing. Once saw the Russians practising in St Petersberg (over it) and they were fantastic too.

We were down at Lake Garda some years ago the weekend of the Bardolino air show - not something I would ever go to but the Tricolori flew the length of the lake a few times in their display - they are fantastic. They only flew over Italy last week - too far south for us to see.

My husband fell in love with Bardolino - why I don't know - I found other towns along the Garda more interesting. Where do you usually camp (I know you go pretty often)?

That time it was at Cisano de Bardolino, half way between Bardolino and Lazise, been going to that site since the children were small, used to go to Pacengo for years too but the shops in the village there that made it worth it have all cosed. The sites that have slopes down to the lake aren't any good for himself now - we like the municipal site at Lazise which is flat and only a very short walk into the town and to a really good Spar supermarket! We used to walk along the lake from Cisano to Bardolino but rarely went far into the middle - like you we prefer other towns. Haven't been anywhere for 18 months ... :(

It's a 'miss' isn't it - travelling. I feel I'm beginning to be house bound - virus or not! It's the struggling to pack, getting there, etc etc.😏

Which is why I like the campervan. Hate hotels ...

Always wanted one! D never fancied driving one.🤨

We had towing caravans for years - but started with a VW Bug. The camper is easier I think though the advantage of a caravan is you have the car ...

As you know, we had a static caravan on the Möhne and a motor boat on the Broads. "As time goes by"!!!

OH always was on about boats - would try camping if I tried a boat. Never had to do it until about 6 years ago and it was a disaster!!!!

We have a touring caravan, we haven’t taken the cover off her yet! Can’t tell you how much we are missing using her, especially as the weather is so glorious🌞🌞🌞🌞

Nowhere to go here either yet - battery in the camper is as flat as a pancake so it must get started and go for a run in the hope it will charge it. We must do it before the 18th June - it has winter tyres on and they can't be used after that , usually May 15th. Not sure if OH is up to it yet though he has been out for a short walk today - first since early January...

Do you drive it as well?

PMRpro profile image

I haven't yet - I was ill soon after we got it and couldn't. It is LHD - the car, which I drive, is RHD - and rather large so I'm not keen ...

I really enjoyed both. I always get goosebumps when I hear Nessun Dorma. Would play at full blast in the car and even shed a tear😢
