Good morning, been a while since I posted anything, but wanted to ask those with more understanding and experience than myself (only being one year in to this awful disease) but I am sitting here waiting on the results of my PCR test yesterday (due in 24 hours) to find out if I have Covid for the second time since its outbreak - hopefully even I can't be that unlucky, sadly I recognise all the symptons from last March and I am 99% sure I have it. My question is I have had my first flare up in months and months, shoulders, hips, buttocks in paid today, what experience does the experts and the community have in how Covid - when it is confirmed have with PMR? Thanks all kind regards littlejan
PMR and Covid: Good morning, been a while since I... - PMRGCAuk
PMR and Covid
The very transmissible Delta variant seems to have a spread of diverse symptoms like flu, with sneezing, sore throat, runny nose, persistent cough and fever. I hope that you haven’t got it again. I expect that the two diseases egg each other on making you feel worse. A sick days double dose of Pred may be indicated if you are down in the low numbers - for a couple of days. Fingers crossed.
As mentioned, look at sick day rules post - healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk...
..and bad luck if you do have it again, but if you’ve had both vaccines hopefully it will only be mild.
Any infection can make PMR symptoms feel worse. And Long Covid seems to have a lot of similarities to PMR and other autoimmune disorders.
Bad luck, but it does underline that the vaccine alone isn't enough - we were discussing yesterday how the non-pharmaceutical measures are still so important. I haven;t changed my behaviour much, mask still to hand.
I received updates from a friend
For retirees …Covid Delta virus information
//When infected with the newCOVID Delta virus, there is no cough, no fever.
There is a lot of joint pain, headaches, neck and upper back pain, general weakness, loss of appetite and pneumonia, this isCOVID Delta!
And of course, it is more venomous and has a higher mortality rate and sometimes asymptomatic! Let's be more careful because of this
This strain does not live in the nasopharynx area !!
Now it directly affects the lungs, which means shorter periods of time.
Please avoid crowded places, keep a distance of 1.5 meters even in open places.
Use double masks and wash hands frequently (after coughing or sneezing).
Please no hugs and kisses, it's very dangerous right now, suppose everyone is asymptomatic.
* WAVE * is much more deadly than the first * 19 *. So we have to be very careful ..//
I was surprised at the similarities of symptoms to PMR.
", if anyone knows this, If you re asymptomatic with covid, andof course with no symptons, most likely don,t, or wouldn,t get tested, how long could a person remain "asymptomatic" and infect other people,??
Until the infection has burned out - probably a week or so I think though it will depend on how big the viral load is - that is the problem with this pesky virus and the delta variant is highly infectious, probably within 24-48 hours of catching it which is far quicker than was the case with earlier versions
Thank god the test was negative!
