Shielded category and coronavirus

Have just been informed that I am on the list for shielding - guess this must be because I am on Tocilizumbab and Mycophenelate. Seems you now have to distance yourself from others in the house - which seems odd as none of us has gone out without rigorous hand washing etc. and John and I hardly go out at all - only walk with the dog. So it says John and I should have separate beds for instance. Towels, use kitchen separately etc.

I am afraid you are not alone. Though how they expect you to keep 3 ft apart in most British homes is beyond me. You must ensure that you do everything in the guide. Did you get the link to it? Keep sane and safe.😊

The recommended distance is actually 6 feet (2 meters).

In the house it's 3ft from your housemates isn't it! That means no more than 2 people in a room without doing a silly dance around. Omg you are right. 2 people can't stay 2m away from each other. My rooms are 12ft square. Good job it's just me!??

From your attachment:

What should you do if you have someone else living with you?

Whilst the rest of your household are not required to adopt these protective shielding measures for themselves, we would expect them to do what they can to support you in shielding and to stringently follow guidance on social distancing.

Minimise as much as possible the time other family members spend in shared spaces such as kitchens, bathrooms and sitting areas, and keep shared spaces well ventilated.

Aim to keep 2 metres (3 steps) away from people you live with and encourage them to sleep in a different bed where possible. If you can, you should use a separate bathroom from the rest of the household. Make sure you use separate towels from the other people in your house, both for drying themselves after bathing or showering and for hand-hygiene purposes.
