We have a yearly AGM with a lot of older people, probably with pre existing conditions, like PMR. With the “ threat” of the Coronavirus, what do you think??
Are we immune compromised and avoid non necessary... - PMRGCAuk
Are we immune compromised and avoid non necessary meetings??
To add to my question: My question really is: should we cancel this agm??
Thanks so much for yr reply, I like the expression: an abundance of caution is a good idea!
And that goes for all not just us... Babies seem to be doing better than most if unlucky so try not to worry. But aren't people selfish sometimes. Why IL not using Skype for a bit and see what happens!
All I can manage is a head shake and a yai yai yai... If that's how you spell it. Not endearing themselves to any circle!
Have they been in the north? Sounds as if it is just taking off there - 15 cases on the island this morning from low single figures just a day or so ago.
If it were me coming back I'd be waiting to see my family in person for at least a week, and that isn't really long enough. And I hope my family would encourage me to do so under the circumstances.
The Scottish PMRGCA AGM has been cancelled - they are working on digital solutions. And all support groups - which are a different matter of course.
cancel! I am cancelling everything. No swedish classes no yoga classes no Fika with friends no Tap dance classes. My husband is higher risk than I am. I will walk a lot so as not to have our little home become like a scene from the SHINING because of isolation! haha. Social distancing for me does not mean sitting aways away in a RESTAURANT! Watch TV like God intended!!!
The bugs haven't changed in a good way!!!! Especially this one.
There are tourists in Cyprus who could be carrying it - a 5* hotel in the north is in lockdown after a handful of Germans brought it with them and 50 Poles are stuck there.
Funny how if you suggested to someone they come here to Italy they'd look horrified but they are still happy to head for Spain where the increase on cases is just taking off and the FO have now said don;t go to the affected areas. Which was how it started here. Within a week or so it was another story.
Very very clear answer thank you😊👍
We are finding a lot of people are cancelling meetings etc etc as they feel people will not turn up. I am part of a meeting on Sunday we are doing on Skype and one next Thursday where we are commenting and asking questions in email and I will gather the results together and produce “minutes”. I don’t know how well it will work. We have about 12 members.
Thanks great plan😊
True- hopefully they’ll be / have been sensible!
Thanks, yes, that is a possibility for us.😊
Exactly Mrs Nails ! I trained in the early seventies and I completely agree with your Nursing comments.Gracious, I’ve certainly noticed things have indeed changed but actually not always for the better.
My walking friend trained in the early 50s...I just don't go there with her ...I agree but am realistic as to the changes in the intervening years!!
It is only a start of the reminders though - antibiotics are becoming less effective and then you will need extensive barrier nursing techniques.
That's where we and my friend agree. Not saying changes are good. You need vocational nurses too. You come across them ...they make sure beds are cleaned up instead of leaving it to the next shift. They wash their hands before and after treating you with gloves , rather than dribble water on them. She worked on the old isolation wards with polio, tb etc etc so was very well trained.
That must have been very challenging.
Hello Poopadoop,I returned to Nursing last year after a 28 year gap.(5 children)..I’m so happy to be back at the old age of 64 .I have noticed some fantastic developments and great improvements but Mrs Nails is so right regarding the basic importance of proper cleaning techniques.
Best wishes.
My friend continued working until she was 74, but on appeal panels for DLA.
I still had to tell her to stop touching her face and picking her fingers in her mouth to explain tooth problem, and not putting a used tissue in her clean tissue pocket, before I isolated! 🤣😂🤣
Dear me!!
The local hospital here in Italy used the equivalent of ENs to clean the wards with specially trained in-house staff to do floors etc. It was decided to buy in services, it would save money. It didn't last long - the hygiene standards weren't acceptable and the outside company was only allowed to continue to clean the stairwells and main concourses!
My husband's department, more than 10 years ago, was subject to the cleaning being "sold out" although they did keep the same staff. These wonderful ladies paid for cleaning products themselves rather than reduce their own standards. A single sqoosh of detergent in a bucket was supposed to be enough to clean the entire department!
Someone on TV did say yesterday that we are no better off in many ways than during the plague - you have to avoid getting it, there is no cure yet.
