Interesting. It is all so confusing! I’m never sure if any anti- inflammatory foods would help us anyway as our kind of inflammation seems to be different from this kind of inflammation? Confused.

Moderation in all things - and in specific situations, remove something that you know affects YOU or your case, such as lower the carbs when you are on pred.

"Refined" carbs , right? There are "good" carbs.

It all comes down to context. If you accept that pred changes the way that your body processes carbs (it does) then if you are aiming to reduce the risk of weight gain and developing steroid-induced diabetes that means reducing carbs, It is immaterial whether they are "bad" or "good" carbs, by good I mean complex carbs or carbs from fruit and veg, they are still carbs, they still raise the blood sugar level and still contribute to weight gain, raised BS levels and the development of insulin resistance leading to steroid-induced diabetes. A glucose molecule is a glucose molecule - doesn't matter if it derives from a spoon of white sugar in a cup of hot chocolate or from a slice of wholegrain bread ...

I suspect a carb from a vegetable would be better than a carb from a grain, no matter what, because of the other nutrients in vegetables. I know some people give up root vegetables too, but really, they are very valuable foods. Moderation in all things!

Reading the list of foods banned by the anti-inflammation crowd it looks like there's not much left to eat.

March is Nutrition month and when I worked in the library we used to promote books with displays. For nutrition month I would sometimes make a collage of magazine pics and the caption "Eat a Rainbow Every Day". Provided the colours on your plate come from the foods themselves I think this almost guarantees a healthy diet.

I know, right!?
