I stumbled across this while Googling, it's easy to read and answers a lot of questions people have about this medicine including how it works, side effects and things you shouldn't take at the same time.

drugs.com/slideshow/prednis...

Some other useful links about Pred and why it causes side effects include:

onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi...

and this

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Thanks to PMRPro for the links

Thanks for the links. I think back to when I was first diagnosed with PMR and prescribed prednisone....I was so afraid of this medication that the only way I agreed to take it was for a one-week trial period. When the “miracle” (of pain relief) occurred I filled my ongoing prescription knowing that at least I would have some resemblance of a life back. I also started a low sugar/carb/salt eating plan at the same time.

The links would have not only informed me, but also calmed some of my fears. They are great...especially for folks who have recently started pred. Thanks for sharing.

Yes it's such a shame the doctors try to rush us off Pred far too quickly, which in my case caused more problems and I'm back to square one. As PMRPro always says, the battle is not against getting off Pred asap, it's with controlling the inflammation .
