My PMR and my Polyarthritis have flared together - I am in SUCH pain!π« I feel as though I'm at deaths door (not like me). Have upped the pred and taken more cocodamol - hope they work soon.
Thought I'd just pass on my misery! π₯ I'll pop up again soon.

Oh, Constance π·π·π·
Darling Lady, it never rains but it pours! I do hope the Cocodamol kick in soon.
I have my Codeine separate from the Paracetamol, so if the pain is very bad l can add in extra Codeine, worth asking your GP about.
Dear Constance, So sorry you are in a bad place. I was in the same way until two days ago. I gave in and upped Pred from 5 to 7 three days ago, managed to stay awake yesterday, and today have made soup and vacuumed. Thought it was my hip OA, but proved it was down to our is friend PMR.
Do hope you get some relief, it is the bummer of having two AI diseases.
I'm blaming this on the weather, -3 yesterday and +8 today! It's dull, wet and windy! I've done absolutely nothing to bring this on. In fact at least 3 days last week I felt I was "getting there" at last!!!
I am in the same boat. Had to up from 5.5mg to 7.5 to get flare relief. Suddenly painful stiff hips, back and right wrist. Much better now but hate undoing all the slow good work getting to 5.5π π Onward and upward, best foot forward etc. How long will you stay on 7 for??
I'll stay on 7 for about 4 days then drop to my normal 4. I've gone from taking Cocodamol every 6 hours to ever 4 - I'll stay at that for about a week then see how it goes.
It does cheer one up to know there are people out there that 'care'. I feel so sorry for my husband when I'm like this - he is so active and I feel 'guilty'.
Right. Yes me too. He's older than me and has taken on so many of the household heavier chores. He's a fabulous ironer, much better than me!! π π€£ He can keep that job. Even irons towels! It's his Merchant Navy training! ππ
Oh Constance13,that is the wonderful thing about this site, the fact that we DO really care and support each other .I am so grateful to belong here. I hope you feel better soon.
On past experience when reduced again after a week, I will stay on for three weeks at least, as it is better to knock it on the head for a while before going down to 6.5. I feel I have failed when I have to increase which I know is stupid. Will try to engage brain this time and follow the advice so often given here by PMRpro and others.
Snow this morning at 3.00am, only left on car roofs now, all down to the bl***y weather.
Hugs for each other........In pain like you....can only take Paracetamol, which isn't much good....when two things come together...too much. You are not alone.....π·πΉ
Thank you for that...woke today in so much pain, just like at start 8 years ago.....still waiting for appointment for xray!.....will get heat pad out again, anything to ease the pain....sorry to moan on...
Getting mine under control again now. In a couple of days I'll be bouncing back. I still blame it on the very cold, very damp weather!π The "greyness" of it all doesn't help either.βΉοΈ
That's good....so difficult waking up with it worse day on day.....don't know weather going up to 15 mg will affect x-ray reading.....makes me feel so low when it's this bad.....just sitting around bored witless....too drained to do anything else.....
Oh moan away Iβm a good listener.Pain is exhausting.Good idea about the heat pad ,I find it certainly helps.I hope the pain levels start to go down soon so you can rest.
Saw physio this morning who says he no longer feels it is muscle strain although X Ray last June was ok .
He's going to write to my GP and request further investigations X Ray or scan as he feels its my hip as no flexibility thier at all .That's all I need .
Its has been less painful this last few days and yesterday was able to walk up the stairs without putting both feet on the same step before going up another. Putting my socks and shoes is better as well .
Then last night I turned around suddenly and now it hurts again
Normally wears off during the day then ceases up at night .
Sorry to hear your in so much pain. Iβm also having a rough time, so I can relate. Do your best to care of yourself and keep on! Better days will come.
So very sorry you're in so much pain. I've been miserable nearly every day for 10 months but finally feeling better. Take your meds, warm showers, heating pad, very gentle movements, light eating, soft music, telephone visits with only non- toxic supportive friends... Sending gentle hug from USA.
How kind! All I want to do is stay in bed, sleep on and off, and gaze out of the window (we look out over large Spa gardens). It's relaxing to watch the wild life and people walking/jogging, etc - there's active life out there - I'll join it again asap (except the walking/jogging.ππ
thank you for reaching out Constance, it IS horrible at times and I get so depressed thinking no one knows, no one cares, and whatβs the use of hanging on with this miserable PMR and steroids. I hope you move away from your place of pain into a more hopeful situation. There are so many of us, arenβt there. Itβs good to share.
It truly is "good to share". It has cheered me up to get so many "hugs" (from all over the world - what an amazing bunch of people).π₯π₯ They keep us sane when we are down.
Don't get too depressed about PMR, it's an illness that is not fatal. I have lost soooo many good friends lately - cancer, leukaemia, stroke - so PMR (even on bad days) is a doddle.
Hi Constance, sorry you are hurting... Damp winter weather is the worst... I like your description of overlooking Spa gardens.... Always something to see and enjoy...
Feel better soon.... Lots of gentle hugs π€π€π€π€π€π€
Iβve been a bit rubbish too but feel much better today.
Itβs a winter wonderland here today. Snow, sun, blue sky and flat calm too. Not often all these things come together at the same time. Itβs amazing how the weather can affect our moods isnβt it?
Hope you feel better soon. Just think of the laughs you gave all of us when your photo βwent viralβ a few months ago! π
Sorry youβre suffering Constance the cold weather doesnβt help. Iβve been the same plus hubby back in hospital and sitting on these chairs for 12 + hours is a killer to the body.
Hope youβll soon be feeling better - roll on spring... π·
