Ultra sound scan on neck.

Had this done on Monday, Radiologist said I have a Goitre, is this related to PMR, or another recent gift?

Any info would be appreciated, thanks

Nothing directly to do with the PMR itself - however, goitre is a sign of a malfunctioning thyroid and that can also in some cases be due to an autoimmune cause. It can also be the cause of symptoms similar to PMR and thyroid disease should be one of the differential diagnoses to be looked at in a patient presenting with ?PMR.

Who will you see to discuss the result?

I have appointment with GP on the 9th Jan, so unless she contacts me will see her then, I thought It might be another autoimmune illness, I’ve not read

Much about it yet, wanted Christmas out of the way, I suppose it will be just blood tests, and see what happens next, thanks.

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid about 4 months after GCA. It has been 2 ish years we’ll controlled on Mtgimazole with no side effects. If your thyroid hormones are off that can definitely add to it present a myriad of symptoms similar to PMR it GCA. Hope you get it checked out soon!
