Yes was originally on 40 mg of pred and both blood pressure and cholesterol became very elevated, now needing medication for both. Never had any issues before

It is one of the listed common side effects, but most people find it goes back to normal once you start reducing the Pred.

Yes mine is now on the high side and when I started on 60 mgs it went very high and they put me on something that made me feel even worse! Doxazosin. Because it was thought to be a false alarm about PMR and GCA I came off both Pred and the other. But had to start the pred again. I have not restarted the Doxazosin and they haven't asked me about it - but I am monitoring my own BP carefully. The rebel in me doesn't want to go back to feeling as bad as I did on it!

It is listed as an effect of pred, yes.

However, some people find their BP is raised due to undiagnosed PMR/GCA but once they are on pred and the inflammation is reduced, their BP falls. This is as a result of the inflammation reducing the diameter of the arteries, that increases the pressure.

Hi there, yes, blood pressure wen t up quite a bit with the prednisone ?? And the worry?? When I took 1 mg and 0.5 mg, for a couple of months, it was still up. Now I am back on 4mg AND with loosing two kilogram, from the four I gained, the blood pressure has normalised! I still got the BP pills handy but don t use them anymore. Yes, it might be coincidence but it might not be coincidence!! Succes

My BP went up but with eating carefully ( not strict dieting) and upping my exercise I got it down. BP meds make feel awful so I find it worth working hard to keep my BP down by other methods.
