More fun and frolics. Before I went to pamper myself in Montenegro (swimming in the sea, lounging on the Cabana) I checked my blood pressure which I do regularly and noticed a little warning sign like a heart next to my diastolic. The literature said to seek advice so I asked him in doors and he casually said I had AF I rang the doc shop and an ECG was arranged for this morning. It was confirmed and I am waiting to be prescribed anticoagulants. It’s another thing for me to get neurotic about. The sane part of me, which is becoming increasingly less knows that 30% of those over 80 have it and I also know that friends on this forum are also sufferers.
Him in doors also has it and we can go and see the Cardiologist at the same time, there’s togetherness.
Don’t ignore the warning icon.

Whomever said romance was dead has clearly never experienced the joys of sharing a date to the Cardiologist together. The upside is that you acted on the symptoms and got it diagnosed quickly. The second upside , when you start the treatment you are going to feel a heck of a lot better and be back swimming ( at a very leisurely pace ). The third upside , if your husband also has it he can help you get over these first few weeks and the panic by sharing his experience and tips , and for once he will understand how poop you feel at the moment and be sympathetic. See , it's all upsides now you know what's going on.
Otherwise , much like getting used to dealing with PMR the basics are the same, listen to you symptoms, read up on the condition and the recommendations to manage it , take it easy as you get used to it , avoid your triggers as you learn what they are and pace yourself. You will get there , take care , Bee
I haven't the foggiest about what that means, keep sucking the plate like an old person ???Please explain , unless you're talking about doing something odd with some dentures I'm at a loss!!😄😄😄
As DL just sent me to your original post about teeth I now know what you are talking about. You could see it another way and think of yourself as fit as a 40 year old , as I have had an upper plate since then because my Ehlers Danlos caused my teeth to move and crack to the point that half of them had to go. I'm only 51 now and waiting for an appointment to get the other half taken out too as they have also decided to dance in my gums so I will have a full set of dentures by 52 despite looking after my teeth all of my life.
To be frank , it's better than the hobo, broken toothed look and will cause much less pain so I'll be happy to be gummy as soon as I can . 🦷
I am a little confused? I see you were diagnosed with PMRGCA in 2014. Does that mean you are frolicking in the sea at 91? Also I guess you are one of them that don’t notice they have Afib until it shows up on a monitor. This I find completely mysterious! I can see and feel mine! And the implant? Today I guess. Is it a pacemaker?
Well you are a complete inspiration and I wish you all the best. I hope you get to Montenegro soon 🍾
I am confused as well. I was diagnosed 9 years ago and am a spritely 82
No symptoms, if it hadn’t been for the alert on the monitor I wouldn’t have known.
It’s a dental implant not a pacemaker. I lost a tooth at Majorca Airport last September and have had months of messing around with a false tooth on a plate. I am not looking forward to having it done but will be glad when it is.
I am back from Montegro, a week of decadence, lying in the sun, swimming in the sea and reading my book. Had a nice facial, not that it’s made a difference.
yes indeed, the whole area is very nice, especially off-season when it is less busy.
I have PMR and AF too, fun, isn't it? You'd think one big issue was enough, but nooo... Joking aside, try not to worry too much. As they always say, AF makes you feel worse than it actually is. You can live a fairly normal life with it, providing you're properly medicated. I suppose they don't know yet whether it's paroxysmal, persistent or permanent? There's an AF forum on HealthUnlocked with some very helpful, friendly people if you have a look. Wishing you all the best.
Thank you. I found the AF forum, very helpful. I have a GP husband who also has it, we can share, so romantic. I have asked to see a Cardiologist and am going next week. I saw one years ago and he said the only problem I had was that my heart was attached to my head, but I guess old age ( never! ) has caught up with me
such exotic places you all visit! (From my perspective here in the US). I would not tell people I went to Pennsylvania…. Not exotic! Your proximity to so many countries and cultures should boost your health factor up many notches! Enjoy!
Yes. We have been to 35 States, it’s such a fabulous country and you are lucky. I always planned to do my long haul travelling while we were able and recognise now it has to be curtailed. After I came back from India my friend suggested I shouldn’t go anywhere I couldn’t drink the water. Good advice.
Good for your lively sense of humor. May it carry you through AF and dental fun. My front tooth temp fell off so I look like an😳Ozark granny, Not getting implant and another temp until Thurs😬. Keep on keepin’ on😎
