the day I have to shower. I hate it! HOW I miss my bath. Today I've made a mistake - I showered in the morning - now I'm knackered for the rest of the day!!
My most exhausting day is -: the day I have to... - PMRGCAuk
My most exhausting day is -
Having a shower is soo tiring, I agree.
I tend to have my shower in the evening, I did it in the morning recently, seemed to take me forever and I felt I'd used up half the day!!! Ridiculous! Mind you, I always loved my bath at weekend, my favourite time, now that even has no joy, its work. Not sure what that's all about!!!
I keep saying lβll take my shower in the evening, then lβm too tired so back to the morning πΏ
That's why I had a shower this morning - too tired the last three evenings.ππ
I share that exhausted feeling too Constance. I try to reduce the effort as much as possible by using an adjustable stool in the shower and then wearing a dressing gown afterwards instead of using a towel to get dried. It helps!
I love a shower as it seems to massage my aching shoulders.
It's now only hard work the water spray hurts my shoulders. Ouchy.
I wonder how long it would be before people stopped sitting next to me.ππ
I often think that as my friend gets in the car.
Oh dear!π
My family are on strict orders to tell me when I am smelly. π
At least we have a reason to smell if we do .
My Family make some terrible whiffs especially if they eat Sprouts or take their shoes off and there is no excuse for that ππππ
Shower then Physio then quick shower this morning , slept for three hours this afternoon , not the best way to get over the lack of sleep from insomnia .
Can't do the bath either . I'm all legs , and either get stuck with shoulders or knees freezing out of water or it gets to my hips and I can't get out.
Oh the joys of being 48 and having GCA/ PMR!
Wait till you're 84 and see what you feel like!!πππΎπΈπ₯
I am 58 and for a good few months I could barely manage a shower and a bath was out of the question and I was seriously contemplating taking the bath out and having a wet room installed! Now I have a bath every morning as helps with the early morning stiffness. I use a variety of bath salts, oils etc with some frankincense oil and it is lovely. Things do get better, take care and best wishes
Last sentence - I don't think so. I've had PMR for 8 years, even the doctor said "it is a very aggressive form and you'll probably be on pred for life". I am only on 4 mg now though so I'm not too worried.
It's the hair washing that is hard for me. It's not too bad while I am doing it, but the next day I always pay the price. I used to wash my hair every other day, but now I am down to once per week. My hair is super dry, so by the end of the week, I have frizz like the wicked witch of the west. Now I find the whole thing extremely distressing because I am losing so much hair. It's quite frightening. I have a shower and come out in tears (which I know is silly. I have bigger problems than losing hair.)
You are right - it's the hair washing that does me in. My hair was very fine when I was young and I couldn't have it long (much to my disappointment) because it got 'scraggy'. I saw a five year old girl the other day and she had tmost beautiful hair half way down her back and it was naturally waved. I was actually jealous of a five year old girl (I'm 80) ππ.
My hair now is dry, since PMR struck,
and sticks out all over the place. However, I haven't lost any of it thank goodness.
I'm mad! There is an amazing hairdresser 200 yards from where I live and I can lie down while she washes it. It's all very upmarket but only costs β¬45 for wash, cut and blow dry, but I have to WALK there - I'm just as tired when I get there as when I wash my hair myself!!
Try not to worry too much re hair. Since I cut back from everyday to weekly I notice it more. But I think that because a weeks worth of natural fall out for me now. Daily you don't notice but weekly there's loads. I had to shower 3 times in a business week and realised hardly any hair.... Back to the once and loads of it.
Since latest setback, am taking morning shower as too tired at night. Fatigue from am shower improving each time. Hopefully means Iβm getting stronger. At least thatβs what Iβm telling myself. π€
I've recently developed a tendency to feel as though I'm losing my balance when my eyes are shut in the shower. What's that all about? Eyes open and I'm fine and enjoy it - when I get round to it.
Oh, definitely my balance is off in the shower and keep my eyes open and if have to briefly shut ( face washing), I hold on to the wall. My balance has been off overall since I started on pred. I walk carefully. ππ€
I love baths and hate showers with a vengeance but getting out of the bath has been interesting to say the least!! I used to use the taps to haul myself up but since moving our new bath has its tap down one side and its controls are up at shower level!! In the old one i often had a real wave motion going as i revved up to push myself out and have been known to be on all fours stark naked calling for OH. I still wont give up my baths though even if i have to sit on the loo to recover from the effort of getting out!!
You do paint such a lovely picture!
These last two months I have been able to get out of the bath much easier than before thank goodness. Now every morning I soak my aching thighs before rubbing in magnesium oil. I believe this has helped me move more freely and strengthed my muscles.
I have had sea sick from the waves i created trying to get out of my bath!! Definitely not a pretty site although i am informed it was funny!!
Soaking muscles is always good as far as i am concerned and adding magnesium afterwatds sounds goodx You are basically giving yourself a massage.x
