Mine used to be rolling out of bed in the morning, waddling to the bathroom, waiting 15 minutes then washing and dressing.
Now it’s “showering”!😟

For me... the most exhausting activity was changing the bedding! That is still tiring, but walking and talking at the same time, is impossible! 😩
I get my OH to change the bed.😀 And I can talk the hind leg, etc etc while walking, as long as I have my rollator!
Hahahahaha, good for you Constance13!!!!
You said it! It’s the same for me too 🙄
Really Muck should be doing that Melissa. I dump all the clean bedding on the stripped bed and make helpless mewling noises. My mattress weighs a ton.
🤣 "...helpless mewling noises?' Too funny! It's better now than it used to be... it used to take me hours, as I'd fall on the mattress at various points in the process, and have to rest!!! Now I can do it all in one go, it's just a looonger go !
Me too Melissa, but showering runs a close second!
Hello Constance, the most exhausting activity at the start of my PMR was, how the heck am I going to move. Trevor.
It exhausts me too and makes me want to go back to sleep which I sometimes do - damp.
Taking a shower definitely. And washing hair. And I have a chair in my shower! Go to my bed clean in the middle of the day, soooo tired.
What I’m waiting for is a “body wash machine” like the ones for the car. You walk in, water and shampoo are squirted at you, then washed off, and lastly you are dried as you walk out of the shower.😂😂😂
While interviewing contractors for our anticipated reno, one of them told me he'd recently installed a shower with 12 body jets.
I had one, but when we moved didn’t bother to buy a new one. I found the jets hit the wrong places, two of which were eye level.😟 It was a tall man that installed it!!!
My son has just had one installed in the family bathroom - he's not impressed even by the look of it - sticks to his en-suite 'normal' shower --DIL wanted it and she has the final say.....
Now they each have a shower.
They always have - 3 en-suites plus family bathroom and a downstairs washroom.
Think of all that cleaning!! - do they have a cleaner as well?!
🤣🤣🤣
I'd have to lose weight to expose myself in such a wonderful machine. I could cover myself in wet rags, I suppose! 😁🤣😂😁
I have to say - showering is the least of my problems!!! We don't get dirty these days - so what on earth are you all DOING in the shower?!!!! Hairwashing is a bit different - but it doesn't send me back to bed.
If I have shoulder/arm problems like that it is usually because I need a smidgeon more pred - it is an early sign of more disease activity for me.
You’re right, these days people shower too often. My husband had a colleague who showered 3 times a day (including mid-day in the college). God knows what his skin was like! I was warned not to shower/bath more than twice a week because I have extremely dry skin.
I swear that is why I have no real skin problems despite 9 years of pred! When I do shower I use no soap - if I do I peel for the next few days! Soap is for hair - and that is washed about once in 2 or 3 weeks usually. I've just managed 4 weeks - I had hoped I could manage another few days and go to the hairdresser, it needs tidying up in the process of growing out the bad cut from the early spring. But no - from one day to the next I couldn't stand it!
I find washing my hair and sometimes ,more often now , having to use a colour on it,a real chore, and it takes quite a while to dry, being thick in places, but rather thin on the top ,thanks to the Pred.lt was really hard to do when l first had PMR,because of the pain in my arms.l find that my hair also seems to stick out all over the place and in damp weather goes really limp .Definately in a much poorer condition than it used to be.
I did get that feeling. I am so thankful that we redid our shower several years ago and added a bench and a walking shower. I couldn't take a short if not for the bench. It is exhausting. I hope that you regain your strength soon.
