Painful legs at bedtime.

I have painful legs and feet that feel like they are tied in knots. Does anybody else experience this sensation when they go to bed at nite ?

Any suggestions ? I have had PMR for 2 1/2 years now and am on 5 mg's of prednisone.

Sounds like PMR pain to me - unless this is 'atypical' for you or you have been 'overdoing' things then maybe not enough Pred ....

I have a different sort of leg pain that's connected to an old injury. It feels like tar being poured down my spine into my legs. It is hard and I wanted to sympathesise 😢Fortunately yours might be managed by taking a magnesium supplement.. Other people swear by it. Of course we always say check with your Dr or pharmacist. Good luck. Hoping you having a better night. Don't forget to rub them if possible. I find it can confused the signal.

Thanks for the tip but I already do take magnesium supplement. Guess it's just from good ole PMR

My lower legs and feet feel as if they are in rubber socks. Particularly uncomfortable at night.

at least I know that I am not alone with all of these different leg feelings.

Hi I meant to say ibuprofen gel not the pills, I don't have any problem with this.

I don’t know if it’s the same thing but my legs are definitely 'restless' and a bit achey when I go to bed at night. I have found magnesium oil spray very helpful. It might be worth a try.

Me too. Though I’ve been off pred for 10 months.

Hello, do you mean when you get into bed or in the night after you’ve been laying there for a bit?

After I have been in bed for a bit but haven't fallen asleep yet.

This is the time when I have the most body discomfort and I have to get through it to get to sleep. If that happens I’m fine. Magnesium helps some of it but others find it brilliant as you can see.

It usually starts about 10 minutes after I have gone to bed, also my feet are usually icy cold so I warm a rice bag and put my feet on that . It seems to help.

I take 800 mg of magnesium at bedtime for the pain in my legs. It works wonders for me.

Thanks for the tip, I take my supplement in the morning so I'll try switching evening.

I also use a homeopathic remedy called "restless legs". There are several different formulas, easy to find in most markets with "health" sections, or in natural food stores here in US. Also on Amazon.

If you Google ‘Prednisolone and Ibuprofen’ you’ll find this:

“Don't take anti-inflammatory painkillers (NSAIDs) like aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen while you're taking prednisolone, unless they've been prescribed by your doctor. This type of painkiller may increase the risk of side effects on the gut, such as stomach ulceration and bleeding”

I don't take NSAIDs. I have already heard that they are hard on the gut.

Thank you, I will try that.

Maybe hot bath to soak before bedtime? That helped with my PMR symptoms.
