Brief summary of my PMR

December 2018 outpatient care diagnosed me with PMR. February 2019 saw a rheumatologist put me on 30 mg prednisone. Overall been doing very well with tapering I had to go back to 15 mg

Move ahead I am now on 10 mg just recently had blood work and my numbers are perfect my C Reactive protein was perfect was in the normal range.

My concern is recently I have been experiencing chest pressure/pain. The location is right in the middle of my chest and radiates to both areas of my nipples.

Overall I feel great and usually do some form of exercise everyday.

Blood pressure 110/68

Pulse 64

I have read PMR could cause heart problems

Is this something I should be concerned

Could this be the PMR or prednisone causing this problem

Chest pressure/pain should always be investigated. We can't presume that everything our body does now is because of PMR or pred. That's dangerous.

Start with your GP, or next time it starts, head for the ER. If it's nothing, it's nothing. But if it's the beginning of something, better to deal with it early before too much damage is done.

Please see your GP or better still Hospital

I had a heart attack end of May and while in hospital I was amazed how many people had pains and left it .

Better to be safe then sorry sooner Heart Attacks are treated the better the outcome .

Hopefully it nothing to worry about

Chest pain must always be checked out - it is heart until proven otherwise! I have atrial fibrillation - caused by the underlying autoimmune part of PMR.

You need an ECG at the very least - but done while you are experiencing the pain otherwise it probably won't show anything, If it happens call the emergency services and tell them you have central chest pain. Don't wait to go to the GP.

I experienced exactly the same in September, severe chest pain right in the midlle of my chest. If I sneezed or coughed it reaaly hurt. Had it checked but Nurse Practitioner put it down to a strain as there was no heart issue.

I believe is due all the strain in my shoulders causing strain in my chest. The symptoms subsided within 24 hours but it continues to be painful to sneeze or cough.

As others have said you need to rule out any heart or breathing issues.

Definitely get it checked-out with a doctor But don't get too worried about it at this stage. A post here a week or 2 ago a discussed chest pain and a number of people, including myself, had had inflammation of the areas between the ribs diagnosed. Also Costochondritis was mentioned which seems to have the same symptoms.
