Successful taper and hormones.

I am now on 3.25/2.5 every second day, so pleased that this low dose works for me. I have had pain in a hip and a shoulder since april and extra heartbeats since start of september. Low energy and quite a lot of anxiety in addition to that. I have had my cortisole measured and that was good, all other bloods as well.

I started to read about perimenipausal symtoms and found out that I probably had these problems. So from last monday I started hormone treatment with estrogen adhesive plaster and suddenly my extra heartbeats is gone! Totally fine! My anxiety is also a lot better, I can’t tell if that’s about my heart beating normal again or if it’s just being helped with hormones.

I have no (!) signs of PMR so far. Nothing.

Just saying that problems can come down to so many different reasons in this age....

You are so right and that's why I think we all need to be careful not to assume whatever the ailment of the day may be is connected to PMR and raise our pred dose in response.

There is one form of PMR that is due to the hormone imbalances in the menopause. PMR isn't the illness, it is the outward expression of an underlying condition/disorder. But persuading a doctor to check hormone levels isn;t easy!!

Do hope this means you are able to reduce the pred even further.

Yes, me too! It's hard to find information about that in the internet and none of all the doctors I've met during these two years has wondered about this. They were just so ,so convienced that I was too young for regular PMR. Now I am thinking that they actually might have been right?

Possible of course. But pred doesn't usually help with perimenopausal PMR symptoms. That would be one of the indicators it wasn't really "our" PMR. You can have both.

And one has to be a flippin wizard to work it all out. Let’s hope you keep on the up.
