Referral for Rheumy in New York City?

My GP is well-meaning, but he doesn't seem willing to come up to speed on current wisdom about PMR. Before I ask him for a recommendation for a rheumy and get one that will just agree with his previous assessments, I was wondering if any of you all are in New York City and can recommend someone who is expert, and up to the latest info, with PMR.

Let me know what you find out...I was looking a couple of years ago and found no one, so battered my rheumy into submission.

So hopefully you did a general service for other patients! ;)

Would you recommend them to someone else now, are they suitably trained?

Actually, I think not. I don't like her, but I get my scripts when I want them and the way I want them, and I get the blood tests and imaging I want. And she's near where I live.

That's about all I have to recommend her.

I strongly recommend looking into the Rheumatologists at Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC. Nationally it is ranked #1 in Orthopedic Surgery and #3 in Rheumatology. I see a wonderful rheumy by the name of Dr Lindsay Lally. She was one of the authors in the research study done at HSS on Actemra.

More importantly she is knowledgeable, open minded, listens and is accessible.

Hope this helps.
