I used it for joint pain in the past (prior to PMR) and it helped. But it didn’t help at all with my PMR pain. But it’s a pretty safe thing to try if you want to.

I find regular extra strength Tylenol helps me best. The arthritis one seems to have little effect.

I guess if you are taking Tylenol you live in the USA, in the UK we call it paracetamol and really it is a simple pain killer which will not help your stiffness, nor does it help pain caused by PMR. Sorry.

Are you still on 1mg of pred or off now? You can try a simple pain killer but if not effect it may mean an increase of pred or back on it and a maintenance dose. It sounds like you were struggling with some symptoms on 1mg so it wouldn't surprise me if pred still needed.

I take 2 tabs every 8 hours, does help with stiffness!

I think our bodies react in very individual ways so perhaps all you can do is test it out. Tylenol did nothing for my PMR pains, nor did Ibuprofen. Pred was the only thing that helped.

Tyolenol does nothing for my osteoarthritis, but Ibuprofen helps.

I was blissfully unaware of the progression of osteoarthritis while on my higher doses of pred for the early years of PMR. When my taper got low enough, boom, lots of pain and stiffness. X-rays confirmed the arthritis.

Hi,

I have recently stopped my prednisone, after being on it over 6 years for PMR. When I talked to my doctor about the best painkillers to use as I transition to a normal life he said any will do.....Aleve, Advil or Tylenol.

I only have minor aches and try not to use anything, but I have no aches if I take one Tylenol in the morning. It’s the lowest strength one and luckily it works great. 😊
