Co-AMOXICLAV and Stomach Pains

Have been on these for a few days and now have permanent stomach ache. Not sure if this is what is causing it. Anyone else had same problem? Thanks

Yes it’s the antibiotics l’m afraid, it is one of those that is a bit harder to tolerate.

Yes, it can do that. I take with a good lump of food which seems to dampen the effects. The are an antibiotic you can have with food.

You say stomach - is that as in "gastric" or just general region?

Just a persistent ache in lower abdomen. Last week I was taken to hospital with acute stomach pain and vomiting which turned out to be a kidney stone which is why I am on the antibiotics. This pain is much less severe with no vomiting so I think it is the medicine. Am on 6mgs of Pred for PMR and taking prescribed calcium tablets along with other medication and not convinced that the calcium hasn't caused the kidney stone.

I think I would ask my doctor about the pain. It could be the antibiotic - but better to check. But I'd also leave the calcium for now and try to get more in my diet. Get some vit D tablets - it is just as important as the calcium but you can't get that through diet.
