I think the general opinion is that since PMR is regarded as a condition which can be well managed with medication, it may be difficult for PMR alone. If you have additional problems contributing to your mobility issues it may be a different matter of course.

Have you identified anything that makes some days worse than others? Are you on the right dose of pred? Have you other medical issues?

Have you applied for a Blue Badge?

The Mobility Allowance has pretty stringent guidelines, I have met no-one in the past 11 years who has a MA.

I do get PIP but didn't qualify for the mobility component although that is my biggest problem. I think I got it because I can't do much at all around the house, including cooking a meal and I do often need help getting up from chair etc. I get £250 per month which actually pays for my dog walker which is helpful. I have PMR (7plus years) and OA in both knees and both hips.

Hi

I applied in the early days when things where really bad and scored 0 points on all .

I fill many application forms in so know what thay are expecting

all that was said that PMR is a fluctuating condition and controlled by medication .

I did request a MR but still refused did not go to appeal as was able to manage everything by that time.

Hi panbear139, I have PMR, fibromylgia, OA in spine, diabetes, hbp, hypothyroidism, anxiety and depression and probably something I have forgotten. I was previously on DLA and was assessed for pip 2 years ago. I did get the enhanced mobility and standard care which were effectively the same rates before PMR on DLA. In essence PMR did not seem.to play much of a role in the award apart from the added impact on my general mental and physical health. As someone said, there is the idea that pred controls all symptoms which in reality we know is not always the case. I was denied the middle care component of DLA several years ago but didn't have the wherewithal to appeal. So I wish you luck with an appeal.

But here's a thread from last year...

I will definitely keep fingers crossed. It's very similar to my profile so I am at a loss. Maybe I was lucky to be already on DLA. Do you have family nearby? I suspect the fact that I live alone and all my family live over 100m away was part of award, even though it shouldnt really be.

Read the link in my message from earlier if you haven't.

An article I read to day said that nearly 80% of appeals in Scotland are granted - don;t know about England. But something stinks in the state of PIP ...
