Warm hip area bilateral

Alliswellforever profile image

Have any of you guys experienced a warmth on areas of pain? I’m guessing it’s active inflammation.

Hi, my thighs get really hot when having a flare. They can get reddened too, but that may be because they hurt as well and I end up rubbing them.

It is always worth keeping an eye on inflammation, reddened and swollen limbs for the possible of DVT or other similar issues.🌻

Where is your warmth? Joints or muscle?

I think it covers the whole hip area, more so in the joints.

If it’s ‘jointy’ and noticeably different to the other hip, I think I’d ask for an X-ray.

I would ask for xray or MRI as the steroids can cause necrosis of head of femur as it has done in my case and I now have to have hip replacement.. Worth checking with your gp.. As it becomes a very painful condition and does affect both hips

so what about just ONE hip joint, or actually my buttocks on one side? The bilateral pain has quieted down for now ..on 20 mg. daily and Leflunomide. I've never had this before. My low back does not hurt, just the outside of my buttocks.

Bursitis? Comes hand in hand with PMR. Takes longer to settle with oral steroids, due I think to relatively poor blood supply to joints as compared to muscles.

DD: piraformis?

I'd query bursitis - or piriformis syndrome though that tends to be middle of the buttock rather than at the side.

There is a possibility of some sciatic pain or inflammation , especially with alot of burning in the buttock area , outer and back if thighs and groin.

Sciatic pain doesn't always present in the back.

If there is itching or pins and needles feeling under the skin this is usual too.

Many people have sciatic pain as the tightening of muscles and less mobility can have affect it.

Warmth from heat pack rather than ice and gentle stretching and muscle tensing in the area helps to relieve it .

I've never had any joint or hip issues before PMR. Right now I am enjoying a relatively comfortable hiatus, except for the hip. thanks!

Burning heat , hot itchy pain or warmth deep in the joints are common symptoms of joint inflammation but also of different types of pain like nerve or muscle pain.

I have bursitis in both hips, its agony and so far nothing has helped, they feel like they are on fire can't lie on hips in bed.good luck hope you get relief soon.xx
