Still on 20mg pred after 6 months?
this is so annoying. I"ve been so active, am 77 and my blood sugars are climbing, something I've never ever dealt with. Seems there is no end to PMR issues, but your site is at least giving me some information and I needed to hear prednisone isn't going to cure anything, just control the inflammation. I was heading down on the sed rate and the pain flared up ...since I'm due for an appt and had the blood word order, I went ahead and the sed rate increased enough the rheumatologist called and said go back to 20 a day. rats. I see her next week.
Darn it!
“I’ve been so active” before PMR or after pred? Have you been overdoing it? You know pred does it’s thing, and you have to do the REST?
admittedly i have pushed and pushed through 2 major museum events as director at an all-volunteer rural county museum. It's hard to sit on my hands but I'm gathering from the replies, rest is important. Unfortunately there is always a drama among the retired volunteers, and i am the peace-keeper
Hi composition. It's a very hard combination being veggie and gastroparesis. You probably have a lot of experience dealing with the condition, more so than many here. We recommend a low carb ....complex carbs only. Some of us with diabetes may do a low good carb/high good fat diet. I think its hard to feel enthusiasm for a simple diet but hope the low carb way can help deal.with the pred sugar spikes you may experience at 20mg.
Hi Sorry to hear you have joined the club, I have been on Pred for three years I started on 10 mg and have been reducing right from the start I did get down to 4 mg but flared up again so went back to 6 mg I take large doses of antidepressants at night and pred in the morning so if I was shaken I would rattle. But I am very lucky that I am still very active shoulders hurt sometimes, I chew a couple of Adcal-D3 tablets most days if I remember this has kept my bone thickness etc normal I have had the bone scan twice. If my rheumatologist had his way I would be off the pred by the end of the month, it amazes me that these people have not learnt from their patents that it has to be done slowly !!!.
I hope you keep at the reducing very slowly as this forum recommends and are able to have a good life as much as possible.
Mike
