I'm wondering if Dan Patrick's doctors are telling him that he will be cured of PMR at the end of treatment? I'll be curious to find out his results.

At least more people will have heard of Polymyalgia Rheumatica. That can only be good I guess.

Wow, it was great to hear someone in the public eye describe the pain of pmr. However, it was a shame he criticised prednisone quite so much. It has been a life saver for so many of us and the side effects are so much reduced on a lower dose.

I thought so too! At 7mg my side effects are not bad at all.

There is another thread about this today if you haven't seen it.

I’m wondering whether he was on too low a dose of prednisone.

I kind of thought that too.

Very interesting very good to hear someone high profile talking about PMR. I read somewhere recently - Kate Gilbert's book? That Prednisone doesn't act in quite the same way as Prednisolone and I thanked my lucky stars that we get the latter here in the UK.

Yes it does - just your liver has to process prednisone to form prednisolone which is the active form. Otherwise - the effects are the same, or as the same as they are between 2 people on the same drug. And get better results with the prednisone I am on now than the prednisolone I had in the UK.

Thanks for the clarification...that's what I thought from what I've read.
