If anyone has any commentary about using Cannabidiol ( CBD) for use in treating GCA or PMR or any form of Arteritis, it will be helpful to know of your experience, dosage, duration, method of usage. I have started on Actemra weekly SC at 162 mg since last week as treatment for my GCA with 45 mg pred daily currently.
Thankyou

I have used drops in various strengths and now use patches. I use CBD for sleep and fatigue, I have also read that a study is being done in Israel using CBD as a steroid sparer. I have a salve which I use on my forehead where the GCA seems to clump, all I can say about the latter is that this patch is much less lumpy. My sleep is amazingly good and though I still need a doze after lunch , I don’t get the terrible fatigue, I used to have to lie down for a couple of hours.
When you use CBD for sleep, what time of day do you take it? I had tried it for my PMR before I went on prednisone and saw no real effect. I'm thinking I could just take some at night to help my sleep.
But my logic was that CBD could suppress the IL 2 cytokine pathway. I am on 50 mg steroid dose since 2 months . Already the Cushing Syndrome has shown up due to that . MTX as steroid sparer gave me too many side effects especially liver damage. I have started on subcute Actemra since a week. Will take one every week now for 3 months. This will hopefully suppress the IL 6 inflammation pathway. Have tested the IL 6 already as a baseline based on your input last time we interacted here. But then the whole inflammation story of GCA also has amongst other cytokines another actor the IL2 cytokine pathway .....correct ? If the CBD can suppress that too it is an added advantage ? Would you agree to this logic ? .......
I have recently tried CBD, and found it did absolutely nothing for me. Ether in terms of helping sleep or pain and stiffness relief. I think it is definitely one of those things that work for some and not for others
Agree on that . It may or may not work . That is also why I decided to check with the folks here . The thing is book knowledge is one thing but real time inputs are extremely valuable.
