Antibiotics and prednisolone

I have had my first cataract done and now got Conjunctivitis. Antibiotic drops don't seem to be improving it. Is it my immune system. I have also developed little red pouches above my cheek bones. Any advice.

How long have you been on the antibiotics?

I had the cataract removed on 20th Feb. And have been on them since.

Well if they were going to work they surely would have shown some sign by now!

Can you access the hospital team that did the op? And ask their advice. Failing that GP I think. You need a change of antibiotic. Is there gloop coming out? Or just redness of cornea?

Not gloop but itchy and a bit of a crusty lump on eyelid. Saw Dr at the Eye Hospital on Saturday he said if new drops don't work to go back Sat. I am bathing them and sterilisating.

So he’s changed them to a different antibiotic?

Yes I am allergic to the preservatives so I have now got Minims Chloramphenicol.

Yes I have tried to put it right, it could only happen to me. I use my husband's Galaxy tablet and my Motorola but he hogs his, reading his Daily Mail so I use my smart phone as he is very reluctant to let me borrow his. I registered as marigold. The Doctor has rung me and told me to stop taking the Chloramphenicol so I shall just take it untill Saturday as I think there is an improvemant and that's what the eye doctor told me to do. Whar do you think - I have now got a round black floater in the new lens eye.

Which doctor has told you to stop?

My own doctor was off so it was one of the other docs. She said to put a warm compress on and gently massage them. Thank you for your help.

I think I’d stick with the advice from the eye doc.

I am now wondering if the red eyes could be caused by blocked tear duct, should have thought eye doctor would have checked that.
