Compared with men in the lowest quartile of egg consumption in a prospective cohort study, men in the highest quartile experienced a significant 38% reduction in the risk for T2D. Higher egg consumption was associated with lower levels of fasting plasma glucose and serum CRP but not serum insulin.
Higher levels of egg consumption were associated with lower consumption of carbohydrates and fiber and higher levels of total fat and total energy consumption.

Since pred I eat far more than the recommended 2/week. They’re easy and quick meals when you don’t feel like cooking, and they’re filling. Bacon, scrambled eggs and tomatoes are a regular breakfast for me.....no weight gain and satiating.
I’m sorry! I admit I was deliberately a teensy weeny bit misleading (to get attention for the non-chocolate egg!)
I feel sorry for those who can’t participate in the chocolate fest....aka Easter 🐣 But a small bite of dark chocolate might be nice 👍🏼
My students often bring gifts when they stay with me, so I have a cupboard full of tasty treats and foreign delicacies. Lindt seems to be a favourite from the Germans, so I have to donate much of it to my Dad. However the Iberican ham very definitely stays with me! I sigh a sigh of relief when I receive non-edible gifts!
A hard boiled egg and decaf coffee every morning for me! ( a sort of second breakfast after walking dogs, feeding sheep and chickens etc) My first breakfast at 6am is porridge and tea...it all works splendidly for me! 😊
I love porridge too, plus blueberries to help my blood pressure!
I love scrambled eggs but my tummy sometimes has a wobbly after eggs. I suspect it Psy as I was vegan for 8 years. I went veggie when I worked in a town that had few veggie options nevermind vegan. Never been good at doing my own lunch when working. I went veggie 22yrs ago and started eating eggs about 10yrs ago to increase protein. But as I said, I can't eat them often as eggs as too close to egg shaped. Reminds me of origins. 🐔
I know I am going to slice a hand badly one day trying to get into packaging. Its like that joke about not being able to get into a package a so you buy scissors and they are in the plastic box thing that is practically impossible with "normal" hands nevermind painful, inflamed or weak hands. I read that a lot a hand accidents are caused by people trying to get the stone out of avocados.
They never are here. Apart from if you spend a lot. I have a monthly treat of a big avocado that costs almost 2£ but is always ripe. Lovely chopped in a salad with a bit of apple in it, and a couple of table spoons of couscous (lemon zest). I try and have £10 a month to spend on something usually out of budget. Last month was an avocado and a really good balsamic vinegar. The vinegar lifts the salad to another level and is gloopy (no caramel for gloopyness). Salad tonight I think. 😂😂
I like vinegar anyway so can deal with cheap stuff but I use that more for cooking - though prefer cider or wine vinegars for that. For salads and the raw foods I like the good stuff, you literally need a drizzle and it doesn't taste at all like the cheapo Tesco bought stuff I normally have to have.
I use a vinegar that has a touch of apple or grape juice added to make it a bit sweeter so don't need to sweeten dressings - it is difficult to find even here though.
Both sound lovely - but Gorgonzola and marscapone. Yum. I love blue dolcelatta with marscapone but I can see the appeal of g'zola with it. I am hoping to grow fennel this year. Texting for advice from my gardener sister for best type to grow here. Low carb high fat is great! Will keep all my saturated fat for cheeses.
I was being conservative. Suspect 20 but veganism new trend. French still a bit resistant to going veggie, but also different "curdling" techniques. Goats cheese often ok for veggies as boiled. On the more smelly cheese I can smell if veggie.
Hi Soraya. Thanks for this post and the one re levothyroxine dosage. Again it becomes even clearer than everyone is different - in everything - and it is a case of working out what works best for each individual. I keep coming back to the old maxim of 'everything in moderation' and no one will convince me differently that the egg is one of the best foods one can eat (in moderation of course).
