Special toilet!

IdasMum profile image
52 Replies

We went into the city today to pick up our Cartes de Sejour.

Whilst Mark drove up to the roof of the car park, I stayed down to use the toilet.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered there was a toilet especially for me and others with PMR :D

Hope you are all enjoying some warmth wherever you are.

The funny little cards on the train here don't get it quite right "Please offer these seats to PRMs" - it took me ages to work out they meant "persons of restricted mobility" ;)

Glorious here, sitting here in a sleeveless t-shirt with the doors to the balcony open - the neighbour has been cleaning hers...

Poor neighbour, each to their own...just sat in summerhouse with much needed cuppa....

Mine is utterly disgusting - I have never seen so much dust and stuff on it at this stage of the winter - been very dry and windy the last month or so...

Can I ask a silly question and disturb you while on the balcony please!.....just looked up (as we do) to what I can do about gall bladder sludge...they all mention calcium, do you think the Adcal that I have twice a day could add to my problem?...Thank you...

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply toLongtimer

Not on the balcony - too dirty! And the sun has just gone behind the mountain...

jinasc might be someone to ask about that - she had gall bladder problems and I think I remember the calcium being implicated. There has certainly been work done in the past that suggests it is possible.

Thank you for that....ignore the dust

I am ... Just been reading an article in the Guardian about cleaning - what a load of tosh!

Longtimer profile image
Longtimer in reply toPMRpro

Quite agree.....and we wouldn't touch anything without being infected if some reports were right....now indoors, and whoever invented the black shiney tv's, music centres (yes mine is years o!d)... should...wel! I won't say it, what is wrong with lovely wood, that's my rant for today......

alexgranma13 profile image
alexgranma13 in reply toLongtimer

Yes came downstairs the other morning and automatically wiped the tv screen dust off with the bottom of my dressing gown..Husband says' Oh are we having visitor's?'.......

Longtimer profile image
Longtimer in reply toalexgranma13

Love it!....just no point in dusting them...gathers as soon as you walk away, well that`s my excuse anyway...

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply toLongtimer

The one thing in the Guardian that did make sense/was reasonable: all dusting should be done with a DAMP cloth.

prunus profile image
prunus in reply toPMRpro

That's all very well but not practical with polished wood as I have learnt to my cost.

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply toprunus

Then you use spray polish stuff - that is also damp dusting, but you spray the polish stuff onto the duster, not the wood.

Hi Longtimer,

When I had my gall bladder removed in 2000 I was told that the stones could have been caused by taking HRT and not drinking enough water!

Interesting, thank you for that, had phone call from doctor this evening, she says it more than likely cholesterol and wants me on statins!......not until a blood test shows a high reading....watch this space....😏 thank you....

I have been cleaning my balcony / patio today too! It has been a lovely sunshiney day in UK today. All set now for a lovely weekend of warmer, sunnier weather :)

The forecast for the weekend is mindboggling: we live at 850m and the temps are to be well into double figures in the afternoons - frosty for breakfast though.

More jealous, two of my friends are jetting off to the sun this weekend, my son and family are skiing and I have had to cancel yet another holiday until I am in a better state although we have a week in Cornwall in 3 weeks which should be nice 🥂🥂

No. Just one of those self cleaning ones which lock you in. Clean and a place to pee is all I need. My bladder thinks we're on diuretics!

The US is very lacking in PMR toilets! I'm deeply offended. 😝

Does anyone know what PMR really stands for in this context? It seems to be associated with handicapped in French speaking places but I can't find out what the initials stand for.

HeronNS profile image

Aha: Ce type de WC est étudié afin de permettre aux PMR (personnes à mobilité réduite) ... Il faut savoir que lorsque l'on fait référence à la norme de WC handicapé, ...

I just found out as I posted in reply to my question! It was my library background kicking in - have to keep gnawing away on a problem until solution is found....

That was the point of my complaint ours is wrong, PRM in English and also in Italian

In France PMR is PPR so in reality, these toilets aren't really for me :D
