Here's a link to some information that might be useful:

nhs.uk/medicines/buscopan-h...

You might also want to talk to a pharmacist about this medication in combination with other medication and supplements you are taking.

This is exactly what it said in the medical description in the tablets. Just can't deal with them. But then again I have GCA too . Thank you so much for your reply though. X

Darling you have my sympathy. I was told I had a hernia that needed an operation. When I woke up they said “ Er the hernia we “ saw” on ultrasound and measured doesn’t exist”. So I had an operation for nothing. I’m sorry darling cxxx

Dizziness is a listed possible side effect and normally they say on medication that can cause that if you are affected you shouldn't drive.

Even if they don't interact with other medications we are taking, many drugs have a greater effect in older patients - and that means in over 50s.

I think we all do! And get very iffy about being told we are "elderly patients" ;)

Hello Morrison

I have GCA too - diagnosed Nov 2016.

When I started pred, I got diabetes within days - been on a combination of diabetes meds ever since. At first this included Metformin, which was v good for controlling the diabetes but gave me terrible gastritis. After a few months it became unbearable and I had to find an alternative. (Did this - ok.) The reason I mention it is that the symptoms were quite extreme and could easily have been mistaken for a bad hernia or kidney stones or the like.

If you're on Metformin, might be worth considering. And I guess there might be other meds with these sorts of side effects.

You have my absolute sympathy. Do hope you identify the cause and get it sorted out asap.

Best of luck.

PS: Did try Buscopan once, but didn't like it. But that's just me.

PPS: Is prednisolone not a treatment for IBS? My dental hygienist has, I think, IBS. Might be Crohn's though. Whichever, when she has flares, the treatment is pred. So, if you're already on pred, I would wonder . . . .
