Tapering from 10mg to 9mg. Noticed weird tingling sensation in right hand. Not sure if this is something or nothing?

Did you have it at the start? Which fingers is it? It could be a sign that you have carpal tunnel syndrome which is quite common with PMR - and at the higher doses of pred it was better but the swelling is returning at a lower dose.

Only started today. Started taper yesterday. Round about thumb area and next two fingers.

That is typical of carpal tunnel syndrome:

You may have been just at the borderline of the dose you need to manage the inflammation - it is getting worse.

Hi Granbee,l have often had tingling or numbness in my hands and also my feet and legs.lf it is just one hand it could be carpal tunnel syndrome ,your GP will refer you to the hospital for tests if that is the likely cause.l hope it gets sorted for you soon.

Thanks for your input. It is just one hand, but no pain or swelling. Will mention to GP on next visit but will see him sooner if symptoms progress.

Any possibility you might be over-using that hand with your electronic device, book, knitting, etc? I discovered the same issue when I was holding my book while reading..also learning to knit, holding one position for hours ... also holding my Ipad....aggravated my wrist.

Simply being aware, change of position, pillow under arm/elbow, etc., helped my problem.

Hope that is all you need to resolve your pain.

Kind regards, Jerri

Diagnosed PMR 2013, currently 3.5 mg pred.

Thanks so much for your reply. I have been doing all the things you mention, knitting, reading, tablet, working on PC, although I do try not to stay too long on any one project, so don't think I have been overdoing it. However, the tingling now seems to be easing off, so will wait and see how things progress. Fortunately it was only a tingling sensation - no pain. Thanks again.
