Has anyone tried reiki? Massage? Acupuncture? To deal with symptoms?

Alternative health care
Acupuncture & massage are used as an additional help, as is yoga, Pilates, tai chi etc - but not as an alternative per se.
I tried acupuncture and in my case it was a total waste of time. I do have massage though and I love it.
I found Bowen Therapy has helped me
I find osteopathic manipulation to be excellent in dealing with myofascial pain.
An osteopath helped me at start (she helped my finally get diagnosis of PMR) and used acupuncture. I felt lighter and less stiff as I walked out her door. Now I do pilates x
Hi
I use massage and find it helpful
I do it myself in the places I can reach as I know the presure I like and can do it when needed .
I am a Reiki Master but find since having PMR it does not help but it may be just me as we are all different .
I would suggest looking for a Reiki share group in your area as they only ask for a small donation and you can take part and learn as well .
Tia Chia is good as well but find a good teacher
Acupuncture I have used pre PMR with excellent results but since PMR does not have any effects
Yes Reiki helps a lot good for total relaxation and helps with pain as you are letting the pain go Try it.Reiki Federation UK web site good to find therapist in your area Enjoy
I also found Bowen therapy helpful for myofascial pain - but it needs the right therapist for you and it doesn't work for everyone. On the other hand, you should know whether it is for you quite quickly, most good therapists will tell you that if it hasn't changed something in 3 sessions it probably won't and not to waste your money. However, one lady continued with it because she found it so relaxing and got a good results after about 5 or 6 sessions.
Yes to all the above. Also chiropractic.Current choice, serious chinese massage and acupuncture. A side benefit, the massage helps with depression, and I feel much better❤️
I have Reflexology twice a month and this totally relaxes me as well as being able to identify exactly where it hurts.
I cannot lift my arms above my shoulders (GCA) so although I do Yoga and Pilates am unable to complete all the poses.
To start with these both hurt but as I relax into the pose this improves my mobility and hurts less.
I have had very good results with Bowen. When I’m getting a flare I have one or two Bowen sessions and it seems to help stop/reduce the flare so I end up taking less prednisone. Over the years my Bowen person has identified specific Bowen things to do for my shoulders that work really well for me.
I am having therapeutic touch every other week... with focus on adrenals. Seems to be helping.
I’ve tried various classes - not all worked for me but am happy with Tai Chi. Classes are worldwide so should have one near you. I particularly like it as you don’t have to get on the floor like yoga. Plus they say it’s as good a workout as Zumba!
