Kyrotherapy has caught my attention over the last week. Has anybody experienced it? Our elite sports people are starting to use it in Adelaide, South Australia. I was considering acupuncture but now I might try Kyrotherapy. I am seeing my gp on Friday so will discuss it with him also.

Alternative treatment
It seems to be better for joint inflammation - which isn't the case with PMR. Personally I find really cold weather makes the PMR worse and so, I suspect, do others. You could save a fortune by trying icing beforehand - to see if it makes things worse.
I believe Constance had the pleasure of trying cryotherapy while she was at a Kur institution in Germany. She went there feeling fairly well all things considered - and arrived home in a state that confined her to bed for a while. Might not have been just the cryotherapy.
OTOH, someone on this thread on another forum
patient.info/forums/discuss...
says she found cryotherapy helpful but not a cure and she had to return to pred after a while.
Oh I can't imagine ever trying something like that! I get aches from cold, always have, ever since arriving in Canada at age six, so I don't think extreme cold would be a particularly good idea for me! On the other hand, while on the subject of alternative therapy, I've experienced low level light therapy, and I believe it helped me.
I don't know if it's available down under yet. bioflexlaser.com/
Is this a chamber where you are exposed to extreme cold temperatures? If so, everything in me screams no! We are in quite a different state to fit young athletes. Forgive me if I have got completely the wrong end of the stick. I applaud your searching, never stop.
Over the period I have been on this board I have seen so many obscure ways that we can make things better. Someone must be making a fortune.
Only if we fall for it!!…...
Thank you all for the input, I very much appreciate it. I have not made my mind up yet if I will trial it, I am less likely to now.
You live in the home of Bowen - try that first.
Got me out of a wheelchair, stopped using zimmer frame and now only carry a fold up walking stick.
Hi Shazstep
Yes I have tried it. I did 6 of them. Went to the place Lebron James and others go to.
I also did hand held treatments on specific areas. You don't know cold until you step into one of those machines. It is a very odd experience. Unfortunately for me, I didn't see any improvement of my symptoms. I gave away the rest of my package of visits to my sisters.
They could get facials with the same method. Don't know if they ever went.
Good Luck if you try it.

I tried ice packs and such for 5 months before I was diagnosed with PMR and it never helped, but I understand the treatment you are considering is at a much colder level.
What I find did help, quite miraculously, was heat. I go in our hot tub often, usually before bedtime, and get wonderful relief from symptoms.
Good luck on your investigations and results. Most of us are searching for treatments that will alleviate our symptoms which can be difficult to determine effectiveness. The folks on this forum are most helpful.
As mentioned by PMRpro I had a session every two days in a pain management clinic. There were two cubicals, we were supposed to stay in the first one two minutes then go into the attached “colder” one (didn’t know even ice got that cold),😂 for one minute. I never managed more than one minute in the first one and about 30 seconds in the colder one.
I can’t really say whether it helped as I was doing all sorts of things all the other 25 to 45 year olds were doing ( I was 75)!!!
One thing is sure, I will never again go into a pain management clinic (have been in 3). Each time I was not only in pain but also bedridden for 10 to 14 days.
Must add I have polyarthritis too, so............?
