High lymphocytes

Has anyone experienced a high lymphocyte count whilst suffering pmr? I had bloods done to check inflammation levels ( which had reduced 👍) however white blood cell count wasn’t right so back in 4 weeks for repeat bloods but I’m now worried something else wrong 😩

I did not have high lymphocytes in any of my 8 monthly hematology reports, but I did have high RDW (slight anemia) that my (former) Rheumy said was common in people with PMR.

I read the following recently regarding laboratory diagnosis and PMR:

“The complete blood cell test reveals mild normocytic, normochromic anemia in 50% of cases. The white blood cell count may be normal or mildly elevated. Platelet counts are often increased.”

It could be PMR or your body fighting an infection of some sort.

Others probably have relevant input on this subject.

Hi Janie Baxter my white cell count has gone up every month for the last 4 months , so much so my GP diagnosed me with Leukimia and referred me to hospital , he also told me not to worry as at my age 74 and being monitored frequently I should be okay but it is upsetting to say the least Hopefully yours may be the steroids that have made it A little high as apparently that can happen to o I wish you well please keep in touch and let us know how you go on take care

Hi darling try not to panic. I had the opposite but with neutrophils. I got neutopenia which is too low. It resolved with vitamin treatment. Blood tests can be alarming but often unnecessarily xxx

White cell count rises with pred. It's the differential count that is more important in this context.

My white blood cell count is a little high. My gp says it’s the pred.
