Can I please ask what dose does not need any stomach protection medication?

I suspect it’s unhelpful and down to the individual because others factors affect it too. For me, it has taken me to get to 3mg to start to forget my nightly Gaviscon and not suffer most, but not all days of the week. However, I’ve always tended towards a bit of acid reflux.

I've spoken to three different doctors about this. One is adamant you must have full protection from PPI's until off prednisolone. The two others say a low dose (below 10mg) doesn't need them.

As SnazzyD says though, it will also depend on the individual and how sensitive your stomach is.

As others have posted - it depends on the individual - OH commenced on 40mg pred and GP prescribed Lanzaprazole - this caused severe bowel problems so OH discontinued and has been OK without any since September; now down to 17.5 mg Pred

Hi Trish, as Nuff says, it depends on the individual. I have come down from 25 to 9mg pred, taken at 4am with a banana and that has worked for me.

well I must be lucky in this respect oh, nice to know I have something going here LOL. I started at 17.5 mg prednisone and I'm at 9 mg I have never had I need to take it with anything I usually take it between 2 a.m. and when I wake up. Everyone is so different. Janet

No real answer - depends on you. I've never taken a PPI on a regular basis and never because of pred.

Some people can get away with yogurt rather than a PPI. I take a coated version of pred and have not needed a PPI either.
