It's a Cactus, DC.... Genus Mammillaria. Stunning various colours... Wifes hobby.

Beautiful, roll on spring. I have a Laurel tree outside my kitchen window, I have hung bird feeders on it. Today it has been better than a Christmas tree, full of blue tits and bullfinches feeding, with a fat robin dotting about on the ground. Very cheering, even a greedy squirrel that doesn’t seem to bother them. Better than looking at the Christmas debris behind me.

That's great. Endless entertainment watching the coming & going here too. Sunflower hearts & fatballs are the most popular. Squirrels are still a pain but hey live & let live eh!

Lost half our TV channels & it won't be fixed till Sunday so it's bird watch every day!

We have hawks in a nearby tree and all the cardinals, bluejays, and woodpeckers have disappeared. Doves and pigeons remain. A lesson in nature bloody tooth and claw, a bit like PMR and GCA ? Excuse my mordancy.

Lessons & mystery in nature all the time here! Really it's war of survival & balance out there I think!... Bit like the human world it appears!... We can only put our individual shifts in to support our passions. Blimey did I say that!! ATB

When I lived in Los Angeles, I had a cactus like that in my garden, but it never looked that healthy! Here in Virginia at a friend's house, I just saw a Christmas cactus with magenta flowers; they are usually red in my experience. The vulgarian in me prefers the shocking pink.😊🏵🏵🌸🌸🌵🌵🌵

Quite a few different shades of Christmas Cacti available here now.

It's nurtured in a greenhouse for most of the year so doesn't get weather beaten. Bugs & slugs are the only problem.

My husband is a bird lover and amateur herpatologist. He has no interest in my plants; I want him to share my horticultural enthusiasms!

Yer! Tough one! We all have our different don't we. I'm not too keen on the boffin side of anything! More overall wildlife, trees, garden & landscape myself. ATB

How gorgeous - so much colour on a dismal winter day. Unexpected!😀

Dismal weather here too. Same as yesterday, mist & drizzle. Some of the colours on these plants " knock your socks off". Low maintenance too. Biggest danger is over watering.

Beautiful picture.and l wish birds would come to my garden, because of a neighbours cat l have had to place my bird feeders in my front garden, but the food is untouched. There are usually mostly sparrows around and sometimes blackbirds. There are fat balls and bird seed with added sunflower seeds out there for them but l have not seen a bird for weeks, not even a wood pidgion, very disapointing for a member of the RSPB .l immediately thought of Daisychain’s lipstick when l saw the colour of those flowers, gorgeous ! Well Christmas is over for another year Pepper,l hope you had a lovely one and l wish you a happy and pain free New Year.

Yes. We too have a new young confident cat on the block! It can't get at the washing line feed stations but is scaring the ground feeders off! It had a leap at at taking off Woodpigeon today! (not that I am their greatest fan!) Always something going on.

Wish you all the best too Grants for the New Year.
