Tip for the ladies

Hi

An unwanted side effect of Pred is often weight gain. I have developed breasts of " a good handful" as described by my husband. Apologies to our male friends. I keep getting itchy sore rashes underneath. My GP has prescribed a special cream but I wanted to pass on her tip. It is nigh impossible to dry with a towel, so give the area a blow with a hair dryer.

My new iPad mini has arrived in the post. I am confined upstairs this morning after recent 2nd hip replacement and golf absent husband, so I shout down to closed front door....come in.......postman, I recognise, brings it upstairs so I can sign. Service! Apple design simple things of beauty with complicated insides.......bit like I want to be. Valerie

Know all about medications and breast enlargement!!! And the low carb diet that has helped me lose weight does nothing for this ungainly disproportion. Ugh! Ouch!

I hope you were not serviced too well 😉😀

Best advice I was given for under boobs rash was by a Spanish Dr. Use cream for Thrush, it works a treat.

I use Polysporin 1% Hydrocortisone Anti-Itch Cream. It soothes it immediately and clears it up just as fast. I’m not sure if that brand is available in the UK. Here, in Canada, Pharmacies carry their own brand, as well.

Dear Valerie

Klinefelters Syndrome sufferers they can only be male often develop small breasts and I have the side effect you have mentioned. My G.P.in 2015 prescribed a paraffin based emollient which when I perspired liquified and ran down my chest into my underwear. I asked the fount of all knowledge my darling wife Janet what she could recommend and she said try Johnson's Baby Powder and I used it to good effect during the hot weather of 2018. I was born with K.S. and developed G.C.A. in 2013 and put on four stones until 2017. Though I'm not sure if the weight gain was a result of Prednisolone or my overeating following the death of Janet in 2016. I certainly ate all the wrong things and got pointed firmly in the direction of British Heart Foundation diet and by this morning I'd got down to 15st 2.00lbs and its still coming off. To Kate G. the Aloe Vera has been a godsend and I'm sure that is helping.

High dose Prednisolone returned my previously dormant Osteoporosis and facilitated a fractured spine bone on 21st March 2016, the pain from which I'm still treating with pain relief.

My darling Janet passed away on 26/04/16 after 51 years of Autoimmune Hepatitis 30-days after my spine fracture. I miss her terribly.

Best wishes

Colin

Naturally you miss Janet. I’m sure you have lots of treasured memories....and lots of good advice to remember her. That weight loss is impressive ....well done. I blossomed with Pred till I became aware of cause....overeating. I am back to pre PMR weight....still too heavy, but exercise has to wait for 2 hip replacements to heal.

Itches are a lot better.

Take care. Valerie

Cant resist another tip for under- breast irritation...

baby diaper- rash ointment.

Look for the one that says odor free...otherwise smells of cod liver oiL....however..

.the results are instant and long lasting, and inexpensive,

found in nearly any grocery-drug store.

Kind regards...we are all in this together...Jerri

I had that problem - due to an allergy to wheat! It started about the same time as the PMR symptoms and it has been suggested that it is due to the autoimmune part of PMR. Whatever the cause - eliminating modern highly commercialised wheat did the trick. I can eat spelt and kamut though. And proper sourdough bread.
