just seen GP and gd news. My iron level has shot up since August with my reformed diet. She apologised that the other GP told me re renal failure and said she shouldn’t have done. Apparently The renal probs, dizziness, stumbling and breathless are all side effects of Prednisolone and won’t cause permanent damage. In fact GP said that Pred has so many side effects that most things apart from jaw and temple pain can be put down to it!! However She’s ref me to the Rheumatologist as my PMR is atypical cos my inflammatory markers are going up and the pain is returning every afternoon. She said she needs permission to increase my pred. (I’m in UK) on 15mgs. Anyway, She said that if I really rest and pace myself now in the early days, I have a chance of this burning out sooner rather than later. 2-4 yrs. so I feel far more positive. Thanks for all your support everyone.

Well that’s encouraging! It sounds like you do need more. Permission from the Rheumy? I shouldn’t have thought that strictly necessary.

Good news Wraysbury but I agree with Jane re your pred dose, if you can get some relief now that has to be priority - it can be adjusted accordingly when you get to see rheumie - you could be waiting some time. ATB

I have never heard that resting and pacing shortens the disease time but you will feel very much better and won't pay for overdoing. Glad your mind is at rest. That was a good appointment.

Me neither - how is rest going to influence an autoimmune disorder????????

Of course it will! After all “it’s all in the mind” you know, so just ‘switch off’ and alll the pain disappears!!!😀
