Interesting. I'm glad your results are so positive. I was also told 10 year possibility of fracture and the doctor got all panicky and wanted me on AA right away! Needless to say I ignored her. She was at the time fresh from an osteoporosis workshop for medics. I wonder who, or what company, sponsored the workshop? 😆
To be honest the summary from radiology dept also recommended AA. It was after I improved the t-score they dropped the recommendation. Actually, I haven't got a copy of that second summary so have no idea what the FRAX was at that point. i do have the uninterpreted results with pictures. The summary doesn't include the t-score. So one really needs to get both. Sigh.
Measurement, maths,% results, choices! The whole person world has gone for many of us in the Modern Medical World! Always the good ens here putting a huge shift in though!
Yep. The bushy tailed rat is already into the bulbs planted in pots! Chicken wire now in position! New protection for the washing line feeder! Hide dug & infra red goggles purchased! Game on!!
My daughter lives in Ontario and wanted to have a garden. So far discouraged by the bushy-tailed rats, in their area big black squirrels. They'll have to make a completely enclosed patch to keep out that pest.
I keep fingers crossed that red squirrels remain the dominant (only) squirrel in Nova Scotia, but there is evidence of the occasional grey. Have heard squirrels described as rats with good PR!
My dad found an old bird cage and put his bird feeders in that, result, hours of fun watching squirrels trying to get in they were all over it.
I continued the tradition hanging it from a beam above head hight. Squirrels still can't get in but a rat could! Large as life hanging on the side of the nut feeder. I watched it get out and have no idea how it got through the bars, even some birds have to squeeze through.
Ha! Very clever they are. Amazing how small a gap they can squeeze through! Must have soft bones! The daft wood pigeons are a pain too bringing their feral mates along with them now. Keep flying into the windows. Leave a lovely impression on the pane & rarely knock themselves senseless.
I think I need to read the NICE guidelines again. I understand the concern about Alandronic Acid which I thought was recommended for bone protection not treatment. A 9.2% risk of a major fracture sounds high to me. I would do almost anything to reduce the risk of hip fracture. I don't fancy lying around in pain in hospital waiting to have it pinned and hoping I don't get a DVT.
Well it did say it was normal for my age & I do as much walking as I can to keep bone strength up. Seems pretty good to me for a 10 year period & lets face it statistical risks are not facts! I have stomach digestion complications & take enough other tablets with their side effects I don't need another one. All comes down to personal choice in the end I think! ATB

Talking back at myself again! A 90% chance of being okay seems a lot better read than a 10% chance of not! The mystery of the %!!!
Thing is, most of us DON'T need any medication to keep our bones in good shape, or even to improve them. Food, a few supplements and appropriate exercise have no side effects except generally better health.
