I’d been having what I thought might be symptoms of GCA for the last few months. My Rheumy usually does ultra sound scans in his office but decided that we need the big scanner for this. I had this done this morning and all looks fine.
It was very interesting seeing all the bits and bobs in different colours on the big screen. He was showing two other doctors what to look out for and said the arteries looked very healthy with no sign of inflammation and were pulsing normally.
He said there is no definitive test for this and we might repeat in a few months.
As it happens, my symptoms have all but disappeared over the past week or two. Don’t know what caused the headaches but I suspect it might be tension.
I’m on 5mg Pred and he’s said to stay on it and not to try to reduce for a couple of months. He’ll review it with me in late May.
So I’m a happy bunny today! 🐰

Thanks Yupik. You’re right about the water, it definitely helps. I was actually down to 3.5 last October but an insect bite and an infection caused a flare. So I just have to be patient and not try to rush the taper. I’m just happy for now that things seem on an even keel! 😊
That's good to read Gerri, I am so pleased for you that you are feeling a little better. 👍
Water is so important for us "PMRers", not only for headaches, but helps to avoid constipation, which unfortunately some of us suffer due to Prednisone...👌
Pop a few slices of lemon or mint leaves into the water and it's actually a tasty drink.
