Interleukin 6 Connection

Dairy products, especially straight, whole milk as a beverage, seems to have been a huge flare inducer for me - I've been dairy free for the most part since being diagnosed. Now I'm reading that dairy cows can sometimes have severe mastitis, don't show any signs of illness, and then milk they give, that humans consume, ends up with extremely elevated levels of IL6.

Any research you have seen that talks about IL 6 as the root of PMR problems? Or if foods high in IL 6 cause issues?

Interesting. Does IL6 survive the pasteurisation process then?

Great question. It certainly might, as it's a chemical chain and not a microbe or anything living. I'll keep looking into this. There's a lot of research linking rheumi-like symptoms to dairy specifically.

Article from another thread showing Actemra targets IL-6 specifically. I'm not on Actemra, but a lot of folks on this forum seem to be.

Hi,

I’m with GCA. Prednison didn’t do anything for me.

Thank you for sharing!

What are you using for GCA if you are not using pred? You normally need a fairly high dose to stop blindness. Are you sure you have GCA?
