Update re blood test accessibility

Finally got to collect blood test print out !! Interestingly as i waited in the queue at reception i heard the very same receptionist relaying blood test results to the chap in front of me, i now know his cholesterol results and lots more !! I confronted her about this, oh i can relay them i just can't print them !! i reminded her she couldn't relay mine !

I really am quite fed up with the whole set up at the surgery, my last 4 visits were to a different doc each time, all with different opinions.

PS Before i forget, if there is anyone out there still awake my ESR level was 2 as was my CRP level. So the doc says all normal, but further action needed. But what about the symptoms that caused the blood tests originally !!!!! I give up !!

oh brother, how do people get into med school these days, and what do they teach them when they get there? Your blood test results show pred is doing what it's supposed to. You aren't "cured", as you and I well know. So why don't the doctors know too?

Please don't taper any more until the pains have gone away. They will if it's only pred withdrawal, but it could be you've gone just slightly below the level of pred you need to control your current PMR activity and will need to stay at the last best dose (4?) for a few weeks before trying again.

Hi and thank you, yes i have been pretty pain free on 4mg. I had decided to stay on that dose for a bit longer. The next issue i will have is when i order my next prescription. The powers that be think i am going from 3.5 to 3 so the question while come, why have i run out so soon !!!

I am seriously thinking of, over the next few weeks, making appointments with as many of the GPs as i can then picking the best !!!

Well, it sounds like a plan. Have you printed off any of the professional standards and recommendations for treatment of PMR? There's a list of resources on the Patient forum.

I took a copy of the dead Slow Nearly Stop taper plan to my doctor for her approval, and she was very agreeable to my using it. Although by the sound of it she's much more reasonable than any of the doctors you've see so far.
