Electric wheelchair: Hi there forum ! Can anyone... - PMRGCAuk
Electric wheelchair
Google it first - there are masses on the market.
You can also get mobility scooters that fit into cars.
As Constance says - your best option is to google it - including the country. There are various companies who will even do demonstrations at home. This one is in the UK

But lightweight is relative. A lightweight electric wheelchair still weighs some 23kg/3.6st/50lbs - so a biggish car boot is needed and possibly a hoist. The lightest this company offers is still 20kg without batteries.
Thank you for the reply I have a large boot buy opens upwards do it's difficult to close unless I grow a few more inches and that's definitely not going to happen lol! So a car as well as electric wheelchair expenses galore this year! But this is a necessity, I will google the name you have given me now. Many thanks for your help
Hi Jamie, have only hired for hubby for a cruise, but as already said google and there are loads so look around - we got the lightest but it was still heavy but he is a big chap - the batteries are easily removed and scooter was fully collapsible, make sure you get one with brakes! his worked by just releasing the accelerator and does take some getting used to, wouldn't recommend one of those. The companies are very helpful and will tailor to your needs. ATB
Hi Jamie345
It doesn't matter if your boot opens upwards get your garage to fit a strap that hangs down enabling you to start pulling it down when scooter on board or the shopping. My camper has an opening tailgate with a strap which I've never used because even with two doses of Osteoporosis and 3-inches lost height I'm still 6-foot 2-inches tall and have exceptionally long arms to boot (pun).
I believe that the Fiat Doblo can be configured with a very low back end and a ramp to drive a scooter or wheelchair on board, but of course my copies of our local paper that usually advertise same isn't advertising it in any of my current copies.
Try the internet for information.
Best of luck
Colin
Better products for disabled people do a couple of ranges of folding electric wheelchairs, but they are not cheap. I purchased one and it was over £2000. They are one of the lighter electric ones mainly because they use a lithium battery rather than the standard arrangement of a pair of 12 volts ones. I'm a big girl so I went for a 'T' series one, but they do a 'J' series range too.

The person you want to speak to is Shaun Atkinson.
I have a komfy Rider scooter that breaks down to fit in my car boot. Electric wheelchairs I would find difficult as they don't usually come apart and are not light.
