Since being diagnosed on 25th May, today has been my best so far, walked the dogs further than before, did some work on the allotment including pulling weeds so my hands are getting stronger. Is it the fabulous weather or the wine I had last night???
Best Day so far: Since being diagnosed on 25th May... - PMRGCAuk
Best Day so far
Just enjoy it ChrisMcT! Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth - long may it continue!
A bit of both! As Jane says enjoy days like this - hope you didn’t overdo things.
Early days. You must be on a high with no more pain. That is what steroids do. It is the most wonderful feeling to be pain free. Bliss But as you come down (please watch posts on this site). It can be stressful. What doze of pred are you on, if you don't mind me asking. X oh also welcome to this site. You will have invaluable information from it. We are a friendly community who help each other . Xx
I've brought myself down from 22.5 to 17.5 and will come down again next week, as I've said before on this site a split in taking medication has had a profound effect on my wellbeing. I am being very careful and find if I rest and sleep after taking the preds I awake full of life.
Long may it continue 😊
Thanks for the message and warm welcome.
Yes, early days indeed (diagnosed in April, started Pred 20mg May 1, reduced to 15 two weeks later, then down to 12.5 two weeks later (I am anxious to get off of Pred). Last lowering of dosage caused some pain and inflammation to return and my CRP went up to 10, so back up to 15mg I went as instructed by my Rheumy.
I do still have stiffness and soreness most mornings, but afternoons and evenings are fine. Rheumy wants to re-assess me as she suspects I may not have PMR (increase in my CRP and ongoing morning soreness), but I believe my spurt of activity followed by regular weekly exercise (slow walks and swimming/aqua exercise) may be contributing to the soreness along with pre-existing condition of knees that require surgery to repair.
Hope my diagnosis remains firm so at least I know what I'm dealing with!
Quickly learning I have little control over the condition running its course, but dedicated to things I can control (anti-inflammatory diet, scheduled rest and activity).
So thrilled to find this site and the wisdom and support that is shared by those who walk before me with this condition.
I find taking half my dose around 5am, some yogurt first and washed down with milk, having a sleep, when I wake up feel fine! Mind you at the best of times I could sleep for England!! xxx
5am? Haven't got up that early since I needed to catch a flight (haha). Sounds like you've got a good schedule going on. Wishing continued good days filled with wine, (great) weather and smooth taper.
Early days but so pleased you are feeling so much better. Long may it continue!
I remember those blissful first days on Pred when nothing hurt!!
Wishing you continued success!
All the best ChrisMcT BUT don't be in too much of a rush to get down the steroids, pacing yourself and listening to your body are key, hope you don't overdo it!
Best wishes
