Coincidence or divine intervention?

In preparation for the birth of my first grandchild, my son and his lovely partner moved recently. They are now living only ten minutes away - child care on tap!

Naturally being pregnant she needed to register with local doctor. When registering the receptionist called out the meet mid wife to introduce Ellie. The midwife was introduced as Alan. Excited Ellie rang me.

‘Marilyn you’ll never guess what?’

‘What?’ I asked.

‘My midwife’s name is Alan!’

‘No!’ I exclaimed. ‘Surely it can’t be?’

‘Yes!’ She exclaimed. ‘ He is an older guy so it could be....’

‘Well of all the surgeries in all the world...’ I stated.

‘I will check him out!’

I did.... and it was..... the very same Alan who helped to deliver my son, who has the middle name of Alan, to remember the wonderful midwife who went the extra mile by staying on five extra hours beyond his shift to deliver him. I was Alan’s last patient before he was transferring to a different hospital, but he came back three days later to check in with Mother and Baby!

My husband and I have also moved since we had the children so ......... coincidence of what??????

Can’t wait till Ellie sees him for her appointment on 6th June!

Our other fabulous news is that my youngest son was offered an unconditional place at four universities. He has accepted the offer from Norwich University to study 3D animation and Visual Effects. This is an amazing achievement since he has special educational needs and some health issues which he has had to overcome. The course combines and plays to his strengths. Having visited the uni and town I am delighted for him.

Looks like it is all change from September ! Roll on!!!!!

I love how the generations roll on, a grandchild arriving as your son moves onto his next stage of life after what must have been a difficult time for him and your family. Such a successful outcome, your heart must be so full... wishing him and you all the very best.

Great news and a wonderful future for your family.😊

I had a similar experience! 19 years ago, my oldest daughter was giving birth to my grandson, her Obstetrician was on holiday, so they called in the on-call doctor. Turned out it was the OBGYN that had delivered my daughter, 22 years before! When I told him.... he said, " No refunds!" 🤣

PS. This is the same guy who ordered and ate pizza, in next room, with my ex while I was in labour! 😲

Fabulous news! I love the story about Alan. He must be as excited about the coincidence as you and Ellie. I bet this rarely happens to him.

Great news about your youngest son too. May good things continue to go your way!

Am firm believer of divine intervention. Lovely sunny post on a lovely sunny Norfolk day. Isn't it just marvellous when things go really WELL for a change? May it last.
