Hello everyone

I’m going to doc today. But woke up with a very bad headache pain on the right side down. And my incision was all oozing. Sorry I had no better way of explaining that.

Hello, oozing this far down the line requires medical opinion. When I was working, the usual time for post op infections was 5-10 days. The normal oozing should have stopped by now. If it is associated with increased pain, even more likely. Get it seen today.

Thank you. Yes it is also associated with pain. So let’s see what doctor has to say

Oh Hali12 how scary! I expect you’ve seen the doctor now. What did they say? The shoulder might be the way you were lying to save your poor head. Let us know!

Please keep us updated!!!!

Hello everyone

I just came back from doctors office. My biopsy was negative as predicted. My incision was infected but due to the steri strip. Doc want me to c my pcp and have my prednisone tapered. Get an MRI. And see neurologist. That’s all I have as of now. More to come. Since I don’t have the temporal arteries. Thank god

I'm sorry - a negative biopsy DOES NOT MEAN YOU DON'T HAVE GCA, It means they didn't find what they were looking for. There are several reasons for this happening - including the simple fact that you may have GCA in other areas but not in the small piece of tissue they biopsied or that the sections they looked at had no giant cells because the lesions are irregularly spread and easy to miss.

GCA is a diagnosis that is made on the clinical symptoms. If you are lucky you MAY get confrmation from the biopsy - but it is negative in more than half of cases. It amazes me how many doctors seem unaware of this realtively well known fact.
