history---diagnosed PMR Febr 2018, GCA April 2018, on 55 mg of prednisone, just took my 2nd shot of Actemra this morning.

My question is I feel like I have a groin pull, haven't done any exercises or anything because of the fatigue, this just came on suddenly, hurts to walk, even have somewhat of a limp---do you think this is a PMR symptom?

I think you should have this checked out if it's gone on more than a couple of days and is not getting better. Sometimes, unexplained groin pain reflects a fracture or different problem with the hip/pelvis, often related to osteoporosis.

Sorry to hear this! Hope you feel relief soon.... if not yes follow GG's advice, get it looked at!!!!

Well that was my presenting symptom. Severe groin pain making it hard to walk and go up steps, get into a bath etc. But as Actemra is a relatively new drug, I would report everything to my doctor.

Thanks for the reply, and yes they wanted me to report everything to dr.

Pain in the pelvic girdle is a symptom of GCA and PMR. (Experienced it, too. Made putting on clothes from the waist down especially interesting.). Like the others, I’d run it by your doctor. And as Jane suggested, I’d report any new symptom to your doctor now that you are taking Actemra.

It all gets so confusing, you'd think still being on 55mg of prednisone it would knock any inflammation out of your body and you wouldn't have any symptoms. Then it is so hard to know whether it is a symptom of the disease or a side effect of the the prednisone. Worked out side yesterday, took it easy but still more than I had done for awhile, went out to supper with friends had two glasses of wine, now trying to figure out is the head and neck hurting because of the wine or the extra activity yesterday, causing the GCA/PMR to act up....... How do you know?

It IS very confusing! Especially since it seems to have a mind if its own in that it’s not consistent. One day you can do xyz with no consequences and the next day BAM. I have come to the conclusion that if I do something physical in which I have’t done for awhile, I’m probably going to know about it the next day. The question is just how bad is it going to remind me. As you’ve just recently been diagnosed, I’m sure that each new pain you feel, you ask ‘why?/which?” I’ve kinda stopped asking that as I see it as part of the package — unless it comes from a new activity or when changing dosage, it’s part of the 3 headed beast.

thank kou!!!!!!!! you have explained this junk, beautifully---before all this we would just put these aches and pains down to being out of shape, etc, etc, now each new thing that happens is examined in reference to PMR/GCA---and yes it is a 3 headed beast.

Good job, too, on going out for dinner with friends! It’s important to keep those relationships going as so easy to become a bit anti-social. And wine, as we’ve discussed lately, is a nice addition to the evening!

I have a super husband, great family and wonderful supportive friends--we are really trying to maintain some type of "normal" whatever that is these days--but going out with friends refocuses attention to something else and of course a glass or two of wine--always makes the day a little brighter.

I really think that given the doses/drugs you are on you need to consider behaving as a "poorly person". Yes, I know I'm boring but high dose pred probably doesn't mix well with physical activity! However enjoyable...

Socks! And underwear. I’d sit on the edge of the bed. Lay them out on the floor, put my feet in the holes, bend over and then pull them up. I couldn’t do anything standing up. I was a comedy skit!

That was one of my earliest symptoms which I dismissed as an injury. A few days later I couldn’t even get out of bed. It too went away as soon as I was put on Prednisone. So I do believe it can be for some a part of PMR.
