To add insult to injury, Parking Eye that run the parking for RUH Bath, have today sent me an £80 fine for parking in a 20 min zone for too long. There was not a single parking place to be had in the main car parks, I drove round for 20 mins, it was grid-locked with people looking for a space, they were parking on the verges, pavements and double yellow lines. My hubby had been admitted the night before with a stroke and needed his washing things and a change of clothes, he got very upset when I saw him so I couldn't just leave, and there were some questions to answer for the nursing staff. They are building a cancer treatment centre and a rheumatology centre there at the moment that I will have to attend for PMR, so the problem is only going to get worse. Think I'll write to my MP! Moan over for today.

I don't blame you having a loan. My phone autocorrected moan to loan....yet again my phone chips in with a relevant word. You need to loan to go to hospitals visiting these days.
Everytime I go to a hospital I turn into a panic monster. Driving round and round then paying a fortune for the privilege. My blood pressure always high when I go to rheumy. 🤑😜
I hope you find magic parking spaces at the rehab. Hopefully you won't need magic. Hope hubby feeling a bit better and rehab going ok. 🌻
I got a parking fine from SMART car parks (Aldershot Center for Health); it took them 4 weeks to send out the parking notice. Only problem for them was that I never clean out my car so I still had the parking ticket. Ha Ha, nice try guys! Note to self - don't throw out your parking tickets.
I knew there was a reason my car full of rubbish 😁
Apply for a Blue Badge................if stuck, send a PM.
Hi Marcimay,
Speak to RUH Bath, if you explain the situation most hospitals realise that these things happen. I’m sure someone can raise a letter for you to send to the parking company explaining.
You may not feel like doing it, but a phone call may save you £80, so worth a try! Or speak to PALS at the hospital they may be able to help.
Hope hubby’s improving.
Do Marcimay! It makes my blood boil.
Does any hospital have enough parking? Our three local ones have at least three times as many staff parking spaces as those for patients, and even they have to double park sometimes!
These tickets have no legal grounds. Martin Lewis, "money saving expert.com" has been going on about it for years! Don't pay and either ignore it or speak to the hospital.
I worked in the NHS and when the introduction of parking charges was first discussed, I was ANTI from the outset - but they didn't listen to me!
Our hospital if you have someone in as an emergency they offer a set amount, if you ask a nurse. Also if we have an appointment and show the appointment letter they never charge more than for 2 hours. Lot's of people don't realise.
Forgot to say, I sincerely hope your husband is getting on well.
Do write your MP, Marcimay. This problem seems to happen everywhere in UK, and it's time it was addressed. Hassle over parking is the last thing patients and their families need.
Hope you're coping, and that things are going ok for your husband.
My colleague had awful trouble at RUH, Bath, last week too. She is now using the justpark.com website. I've just had a quick look and there are some addresses listed just 0.14 miles from RUH. (I appreciate this might not be ideal for those with mobility issues.) There's a handy summary of the various private parking companies on Money Saving Expert: moneysavingexpert.com/shopp...
