Meanwhile I increased Pred to 10mg as a trial for a week (my own decision) and it has made no difference at all to the pain so my question now is.....do I go straight back to 6 or do I have to go down slowly again?
Your comments once again would be greatly appreciated

If the increase didn’t help at all then that suggests it’s something else as suggested by many in your reply to your previous post. So if that’s the case, go back down to 6mg, you could try going down in 2 steps, say to 8mg for a few days and then down again to 6mg.
All you can do really is continue with the exercises until your MRI. It might be worth going to physio/sports masseur privately - they can usually get you in within a couple of days, and if necessary more regularly than NHS.
I would try going straight back as it hasn’t been very long. However, if your pain is PMR related you may feel worse. In that case, go back up then taper.
